Exam Advice Needed

Ok, on Monday my exams start officially. But I have a problem, for some reason I cannot get motivated enough to revise and when I do revise none of it seems to stick.

Basically what I am asking is this -
- Do you have any revision techniques that could help?
- Or do you know of any way I can get motivated to do my exams?

My exams also start next week, and unlike Kess I can revise but my method of making a poster of information doesn't seem to work with her so that one isn't an option unfortunutly.

I have the exact same issue you have with revising things.
What I do in order to remember things is study with friends, it's a lot more fun. Do it over the phone or after school, any time you can fit in. ^^ I also do most of my studying and remembering by just paying attention and doing work in class. I'm usually fairly well with getting something right after working on it a bit and then I'll be able to do it well. However, say, studying vocabulary, I get together with friends. You're not only helping your own revising, but also helping you're friends' revising as well.
Hope this helped a bit.
P.S. music also helps me out too, if you want to give that a try. For some reason revising while listening to music at a low volume helps. It doesn't put so much stress and pressure on me when I'm studying alone in silence.

Read your text books, do it a lot. I know this seems obvious, but doing anything else always seemed strange to me, so I take the most obvious route.

give yourself a reward, for example, for every 10 pages of text you read, you get a piece of chocolate... food always gets me motivated!

Ooh, I am going to give some of these a try. I know for a fact one of my friends has been having trouble revising so I might invite her up this weekend and revise see if it helps us both.

Also the rewarding yourself thing sounds good, especially the world chocolate.

Um... What I'd do is write some stuff in different colours. It helps make you remember in some way.

I don't actually read my notes, I've got my GCSEs coming up! I'll probably read them a few days before and make notes on any key points and refresh my memory. I find that doing past exam papers helps, they're easy to find, order them or print them off the internet. Do a paper a day, each on a different subject. These should really be subjects you struggle with. Doing past papers helps to improve your exam techniques and finds your weak spots. If you find it isn't helping take a break from that subject for a few and then go back to it, this will give your brain time to process the information. Also don't time yourself, just do the paper as you will find that you can answer it quicker with each go, and have music on, this just relaxes you, but it has to be calm music like Eyna.
