((Sorry that I have not posted sooner. I am very sick with a stomach bug and have felt very weak and tired today.))
Cordelia Nerin
The Mermaid

Cordelia sighed at Adam's comment. "I do hope so." She said with a small smile. A bigger smile played on her lips at Adam's comment of that her brother shouldn't drink anything with alcohol in it. She looked over when she saw Evie come over and offer to help. Cordelia smiled at the girl's attempt to apologize. Cordelia turned towards the glass and then back to Evie. "Well, I think we have got it here, as you might want to go get your things for your act, before Sir Adler notices that you aren't set up yet, and the rain is done." Cordelia looked up at the sky to emphasis her point.
Cordelia turned back towards Adam and Conner and said "We should probably start getting the glass in there, and I will try not to drop it this time." She said apologetically to Adam with a small smile. She gripped the glass as firm as she could then turned to the two boys, "Ready?" She asked them.

Emma Mackenzie Mayfield
"The Worker"

Emma peered at Alyce's notebook, scanning the girl's neat cursive and nodding an affirmative. "Come on, then," she said, prompting the younger girl to follow her. "Sir Adler's not going to be distracted forever." Shivering slightly underneath her damp coat, Emma rubbed her hands together for some warmth before heading outside again. Thankfully, the dreadful downpour had stopped and the sun was starting to peek out from behind some clouds. Sighing in relief, she made her way around the various mud puddles that had formed around the tents and stood beside Alyce's piano.

The thing had once been elegant, Emma supposed, trying to imagine the weathered piano in its younger state. The black cover of the instrument was chipped and scratched, while the ivory keys were beginning to yellow. Despite all of this, however, the old grand piano was perfectly in tune and Emma had heard Alyce playing beautiful melodies on it with no regard for its looks whatsoever. Emma waited by the edge of the piano patiently, hoping that the wood wasn't completely soaked from the rain. Replacing the piano would cost a fortune in Sir Adler's eyes. "A little faster, please, Alyce!" Emma called.

(To those who are sick, it's totally fine. I understand. :))

Adam Baker
The Dead-Man-Walking
"From the lights to the pavement,
From the van to the floor,
From backstage to the doctor,
From the Earth to the morgue,"

Adam smiled, glad to have made someone laugh. It always made his day a bit better when people laughed. He looked over at Evie as she appeared, ready to help. She's slept in. Again. She was always doing that, but it didn't really matter. She never had to do much to set her act up. All the props were supplied by the audience. He turned back to Cordelia. He started to panic a little when he realized the rain was pretty much gone,
"We need to hurry. Thank goodness that officer decided to show up. I'm sure none of us wants to be smacked around right now," he said, "Evie, do you think you can go into the caravan and just start pulling the next glass wall out? You don't need to move it out of the caravan or anything, just pull it towards the door. Thanks."

With that he lifted the glass up again and helped the others carry it over to the tent. Once the wall was fit into its base he made sure it lined up with the wall already in place. As they headed back for the next wall, he said,
"Do you think the police will chase us out again?" he asked.
It had happened before. It wasn't pretty. It had been a long time ago, but Adam still remembered the chaos. At least one of them had been arrested. That person was no longer with them. He tried not to think about what the police had done to the poor kid.

Sir Adler

Adler listened quietly as the officer prattled on about them needing to leave,
"Our purpose? Isn't that obvious? We are entertainers, sir. We don't mean you any harm," he said. He was quiet for a second before taking a step towards the officer. He looked at the officer with narrowed eyes, "But we are not ordinary entertainers. You see that boy there? He could burn down this entire town with just a breath. That girl can discover all your darkest secrets with just a touch. That other boy can never die. And I have far worse than that. I have a boy who can control your mind, a girl who breathes underwater, a girl who can either enchant you with music, or make you go deaf with it. She plays an excellent screechy violin if she wants to. And then there's me of course. I don't suggest you mess with us, officer. The results will not be pleasant. Let us entertain your dull people, collect a few coins for our bread, and then we'll be on our way."

Officer Nathaniel Burri
[ Normal Human - Policeman ]
"Oh. So you are freaks, here to entertain the masses at your own expense. Isn't that noble of you." Nathaniel said with a tone that proved he really wasn't that impressed. Almost mocking them. He had no pity for them, and refused to show fear of them. A small smirk on his pale face, he took a step closer to the man himself. "Are you threatening an officer, sir? Because if you are you are extending this issue way beyond simple trespassing. If you left now and moved on to a town that wishes to see your little freak show, then everything would be wonderful and pleasant. We could forget each other's existence and move on. But, if you make threats and refuse to leave, it will become an important matter for my department and it will not be just me you have to be bothered with." He felt confident in his skills, or attempt at skills, of persuading. But his self confidence was quite high for a man who hardly met social standards. He wasn't well liked in this town, but he sure was proud of himself.

"Like I said, this land owner is crazy. The supervisors really do not believe him. And I do not have to write a report if you leave, I can simply report it as a false claim." He looked at the others, making sure they were minding their own business. "But then what is the point in that. It is not like I truly want you guys happily moving along. I find the ideas of your kind of show horrid, corrupting, harming the minds of the children who view it. Because really, is putting nightmares in a child's mind really what entertainment is about? None of the acts you just described sound like innocent entertainment sir. I can not start to imagine the images that could come from fire, mind reading, and immortality." Of course, as he said it himself what he meant really started to sink in. Just how badly those nightmares he imagined could come true right now. He took a step back, pulling slightly at his collar.

"This is your warning on behalf of the department. Leave by tomorrow morning, or we will come back to get you." He put his hands in his pockets to avoid showing any nervous motions. "And we are armed, and I won't be alone if I come back sir. So will you leave or do I really have to bring back some force?" He gripped the gun in his pocket with his right hand, just in case to be prepared. He felt weird, he was talking more than usual himself, but it was nerves that did it. His defense against nervousness was to talk more and act a whole lot tougher than he really was.

"So what will it be sir? Peace or violence in tomorrow? And don't try anything now, I am armed enough to protect myself. And you only listed one as immortal." He spoke in the most strict and steady tone he could manage, any statement of that sort would be ignored if said nervously.

Conner Nerin
The Dragon

"Any more jokes like that and you'll leave me no choice," Conner stated in a deadpan manner while rolling his eyes. He hoisted it up and carried it back to the tent with the others, now they were half way done with the tank. As they stepped outside he took slight relief that the rain was starting had lessened, but that meant they didn't have much time left to set up and Mr. Alder was the last person he wanted to cross. Thankfully the policeman would be able to stall him for awhile. They hadn't gone far when he heard Adam express worry about the police. "I wouldn't worry too much," Conner attempted to reassure Adam, then added jokingly, "besides if it makes you feel better I could always go over there and broil him." Though he often used it as a threat, he didn't really want to torch the officer or anybody else. He had nearly destroyed a school in his younger years and more recently when the police tried to run them out he burned one of the officers. It wasn't to serious for the officer but during that time Conner found that people do not react well to being set on fire.

"Of course!" She beamed at Adam and then, turning to Cordelia, nodded. "Ah, that's right. I'll go move the wall first and then I'll bring out my things." Catching the end of Adam's sentence as she left, Evie turned around slightly and frowned, remembering the last time that had happened. "Well, I hope not. That's all we can really do, hope and wait right?" And that was exactly what she was doing - hoping that someone wouldn't answer her question, because there were bound to be things, what with the magnitude of their powers, that the group could certainly do.

Going into the caravan again, she glanced around before locating the slice of glass. Grunting lightly, she pushed all her weight into it and, panting, managed to somehow move it over until it jutted right outside the open door. Sighing, she wiped her brow and then called to Adam. "Hey, I moved it for you! Want me to move it more or can I leave it here?" Without pausing to let him reply, she went deeper into the caravan to find her equipment.

"Hmm..." She'd need those heavy velvet drapes, for sure. I guess I should just move the entire stall out, it doesn't really need any repairs... Sighing once more, Evie put all her effort into moving the stall out, although since it was wooden it was a fair bit lighter than it appeared. Successfully managing to drag the stall outside the caravan and onto the damp grass, she dusted her hands down and smiled, proud of accomplishing something for that day. "I mean, in the face of inevitable doom one really should be optimistic. Or a realistic idealist." Only then did she realise that she'd spoken out loud, and blushed, hoping that nobody had heard her. Swiveling around, she found herself facing the direction of Sir Adler and that policeman. I wonder what they're talking about? She felt the urge to experiment with her powers, see what happened, but Evie knew her limits. As far as she'd tested them out, she wasn't able to telepathically communicate or read minds or anything else of the sort. Still, it wasn't like that prevented her from trying!

Focusing hard, she closed shut her eyes, in fact squeezing them - so focused was her concentration. Only the soft but unexpected 'swish' of the richly red curtains of her stall closing alerted her of her powers working, but in totally uncalled for ways. Dang it. Sure hope nobody noticed that...

Cordelia Nerin
The Mermaid

Cordelia smiled at Evie and then went back to carrying the glass. She held a firm grip and this tome, there were no slips or cuts. She stood back and looked at the glass wall and then went and walked back to the Caravan. She glared at Conner when he said that he could just boil him. "Conner. That's just mean." She said and walked back to the caravan. She saw that Evie had pushed one of the glass walls pretty far out by herself. She poked her head in the Caravan to see Evie. "Thank you for getting the glass wall out." She said to her.
Cordelia walked back to where Evie was standing next to her booth. "I wish that our props for our acts didn't have to be so heavy." She said gingerly touching the curtains on Evie's booth. Truthfully, Cordelia was jealous that Evie had such a beautiful acting space. She didn't have four huge glass walls that contained her. She had a beautiful booth with lovely curtains. She sighed and turned and gave a weak smile to Evie before returning to help Adam and Conner carry the last two walls of glass

Alyce Gaver
The Musician

Alyce nodded and followed Emma. he gleefully skipped behind her, happy that she had finally got someone's attention. She peered over the old grand piano. She lightly brushed her fingers over the worn out keys. She then looked up to Emma. Then back to the piano. She walked around the piano, trying to figure out a ways for them to move it inside. Since the piano already that the wheels attached to teach one of the legs, all they had to do is push...a ton of wood and strings, avoiding the muddy puddles, over to the main tent which was yards and yards away. Alyce sighed and then put her hands on the left side of the piano, securing her grip. Then she started to push. Thank God that she had a pair of slacks and rain boots on, instead of her normal dress and heels attire. Soon the huge mass started to give in a bit. But not quite.

Emma Mackenzie Mayfield
"The Worker"

Bracing herself against the edge of the grand piano, Emma pushed the grand piano across the ground, carefully maneuvering in order to avoid the large puddles of mud and the soggier patches of ground. It wasn't easy - pushing the piano around was akin to towing a pair of oxen through a carefully laid out minefield. However, with Alyce's help, Emma was able to push the piano into the main tent with minimum difficulty, where it would remain for the rest of their stay.

"You should probably go claim a tent and get some rest before Sir Adler comes back," Emma said quietly. She could hear the raised voice of the police, and hoped that the middle-aged officer hadn't angered Sir Adler in any way. He usually took out his rage on the members of the show, including herself, and she had no wish to become victim to one of his anger-induced streaks of violence. Striding out of the tent, Emma walked over to the rest of the troupe.

"Get the rest of the props in, and then return to your tents. If Sir Adler allows it, I want you all to get some practice before our first show."

(Lots of Halloween stuffs going on. It's died down now, though. :3)

Adam Baker
The Dead-Man-Walking
"I'm not dead, I only dress that
Way out nowhere
Take me out there
Far away and save me from my
Self destruction
Hopeless for ya
Sing a song for California,"

"I don't think that would help our situation, Conner," Adam said. He didn't like the police, but he liked the idea of broiling and officer even less. He looked at Evie and the glass wall which she had moved more within their reach, "Thanks, Evie, appreciate it," he said, giving her a small smile. He looked a deep breath as they got to work carrying the third wall towards the tent.

He grimaced when Emma said they should practice. He all but flat out refused to practice his act. How were you supposed to practice dying? He tried not to think about it. Sir Adler yelling at them to get moving startled him, but he was able to keep his grip on the glass wall. He muttered a half-hearted apology. He looked at the others. They were really behind today. It was terrible. If they didn't bring in a lot of money tonight, Adler was going to be pissed off.

Sir Adler

Adler laughed,
"We come in peace, officer, but we've dealt with your kind before. Don't take coming out here lightly," he said. Without another word he turned around and strode towards the tent. He saw Adam, Conner, and Cordelia still struggling to get the tank put together quickly,
"Pick up the pace, you three! This should be done already!" he snapped. He looked at Evie, Alyce, and Emma who were also trying to set up, "Honestly, you lot should know how to do this quickly by now! Get that stuff into the tent and put up the banners. I'm going back into my caravan and if everything isn't ready by the time I'm back, there'll be hell to pay."
With a final menacing glare he turned and stalked back to the caravan he called home. It was the largest of the five caravans and always traveled in the front of their odd procession.
