I still can't believe that a hurricane hit the US! It seemed like it would never happen.
Looking for any PPS pets that I do not have! Any trades appreciated <3

oh my gosh, I haven't heard that. I'm sorry, you have family in danger! In Louisiana, almost every hurricane you've heard of being in the states started or went through here. However, not even Katrina was as bad as Sandy is supposed to be!!

Katrina was a catagory 5 and Sandy is only a catagory 1. What makes Sandy bad is her size and that there are a lot of low lying areas that are flooding. Plus the fact that it's colliding with a snow storm. Hope every one stays safe.

I know but we don't have them as often on the east coast, that's why I'm a little shocked.

They are now, because the super storm sandy moved up there. The coast got the worst because of water. New York City isn't as close to the water as much as New Jersey is.

Well actually NYC is an island .... New York State isn't

Part of what makes this one such a problem is the fact that it is going in land instead of out to sea like you would expect when it reached to the point that it did. This is do to the addnormal curve in the Gulf stream, this curve that isn't around during the normal Hurricane season is forcing the Hurricane in land and causing major flodding in places that normaly wouldn't be affected, such as New York City. It also doesn't help that this Hurricane is much wider than normal and is moving at a higher speed as well. Sandy wont be doon for a long time all thanks to the Gulf Stream that controls most weather in the upper porsions of the states.
