Wine Eyes
The first day we were together,
Taking a walk in the cold, cold snow.
I told you of things past and you were along for the ride;
I will never forget those warm, wine eyes.
When you spoke it was like the clouds had broke,
Every flake melted before it touched the earth
And even facing your mirth,
I will never forget those warm, wine eyes.
Then you were oh so frightened,
But I had sworn to protect you no matter what.
I did what any man would do,
All for those warm, wine eyes.
The days had grown too short
And the nights had grown oh so long.
The times we shared together were worth every extra minute;
All for those warm, wine eyes.
One day I happened upon a fright,
You seemed to have lost your sight.
When it returned and it was revealed what you had done,
There was great sorrow in those warm, wine eyes.
I grew distraught and there was a tug in my breast;
I couldn't bear to see you like this.
My voice guided you through that time,
All for those warm, wine eyes.
Years have passed even still,
A never ending cycle with an ironclad will.
We're as strong as ever and here we stand
Our love is still oh so grand;
And I did it all for those warm, wine eyes.
