Emberpaw followed behind the two warriors, his short legs working double to keep up with them. As they walked, he wondered why Brambleheart wanted them to split up. After all, Emberpaw had only gone hunting a few times, and rarely caught anything.

The trio soon came to the stream. A lot of the prey here was, well, fish. Looking up at Brambleheart expectantly, the apprentice waited for instruction. Bluefur, he figured, knew what she was doing.

Kitewing's mother died giving birth to him, so he was nursed and cared for by other queens. His father resented his kit and often beat him, though his brother, Falconflight received this far more often than he. Their father, Thornpad, died soon after their warrior ceremony, in a rock fall. He's been Falconflight's mentor. He and his brother's bird prefixes are a tribute towards their mother, Swanfeather.

Kitewing is a very loyal, considerate cat. He is an idealist, hence his name, and is what can only be referred to as 'chivalrous.' He has a strong sense of morality and is very sweet, but can be surprisingly violent if his morals come into the problem. He can't stand the idea of others being abused, due to his history, and loves kits. He is extremely kind and gentle, and often teased for being a little weak, though he is anything but.

If he wanted, due to his rather solid frame, Kitewing could be a lethal killer. He is a brown marble-classic tabby. He has white paws and chest, along with rims around his eyes and flecks on his muzzle. He has black spots on the back of his white socks (back feet only) and has rather pronounced ears.

Falconflight, like Kitewing, was brought up by various queens rather than his birth mother. Thornpad, their father, would often mistreat his songs, and when he turned aggressive, Falconkit always stood up for his brother and took the worst of the beatings. When he was apprenticed, he was given Thornpad as his mentor, perhaps in an effort to bring father and son closer, though this only led to the corruption of Falconpaw, as much of the brashness and aggressiveness rubbed off on his son, amplified by the hatred between them. Though he is often cold and may lash out, he is deemed a loyal warrior, and has high hopes to become leader.

Falconflight is nearly the polar opposite of his brother. He is cold and quiet, and resents most cats in the clan for many things. He is often far more violent then he has to be, and will resort to violence if he deems it worthy. He and his brother have very bad relations due to their conflicting personalities. He is rather unapproachable and is very bitter and sarcastic, however he can be highly manipulative.

Falconflight is a very pale brown tabby with white paws, belly and throat, and has lines of ginger where the two colours meet. He is medium-furred, and is of a wider build than his brother, Kitewing, but is still rather slender. He had black on the backs of his feet, like Kitewing. He has brown-amber eyes.

The second born in the abnormally large litter of eight, with two older siblings, Windpaw, or as he was known in those days, Angin, was from the Kingdom, a place where cats live in family groups, governed apparently by the King, however the true power lies in the rank of Warlord. The Kingdom lays at about six weeks travel, due East. His father, Jaran, was killed in war before his litter's birth, and his mother was a high-ranking commander who had little time for her children. As a result, he and his siblings were brought up by their elder sister and brother, Lebah and Katang. When he was three moons old, he was kidnapped by a lone cat who had a vendetta against the Warlord of the Kingdom. Though the plan had been originally to kill the kit, the old loner, named Briar, could not find it in his heart to do so. He travelled with Windpaw, till he found Stormclan. Shortly after leaving the kit in their care, he passed away, having contracted an illness that destroyed him from the inside (kidney failure). Windpaw remembers his family and Briar, but does not wish to return to the Kingdom, and does not speak of his place of birth.

Windpaw is a carefree, laid-back, rebellious and wild, much like the element that gives him his name. He is also fairly lazy and does not like to work, often coming up with excuses and always preferring to take the easy way out, even if it comes back to bite him later. He is of apparently near genius level intelligence, but his talents are wasted on pranks and quick insults. He is reckless and impulsive, and quick to act, thus often appears a lot stupider than he actually is. Though he may appear arrogant and self-centered, Windpaw is very loyal to his friends, and suffers from chronic pessimism, believing himself to be a useless failure. He is terrified of never being able to match the other's abilities, of being looked down on, of being a failure. Deep down he is a cowardly child, still haunted by the past he's endured. He does not believe in Starclan.

A pale, ashy-brown colour, Windpaw is remarkably... Unremarkable in appearance. There are, however, a few traits that give him away as an outsider, such as a narrower muzzle than the norm, larger, more pointed ears and a slight ridge on his back, that is the same colour as the flecks on his shoulders. He has white toes and dark green eyes. He has a few darker flecks on his shoulders and hips, but not many. He is very lean and tall, lightly built, and has an odd way of standing in which he puts his weight on his front legs, inclining slightly and drawing his head closer to his shoulders. His tail is abnormally long.
