I gave him a little more than that today, which I believe he ate all of. Hikari pellets are extremely small. All of the dirt was from his old pellets, which were so big I had to crush them. Should be better now that he has food he can actually eat, but I still need to clean his gravel to get all of the old gunk out of there.

Edit: It says to give him 5-10 pellets up to three times daily.

I was told by the petsop to feed 8 pellets when it should actually be 4, 10 pellets 3 times aday is way too much, Kiara20 posted these pics on a different thread I found them very usefull

Overfeeding can sometimes cause swim bladder, and that can take a betta weeks to recover from!

fish always beg for food, so even if you have fed him and he still acts like he wants more he'll be fine hes not starving, they only have tiny stomachs

kiara20 wrote:Most of the pellet bottles will say things like that just so that you'll run out of pellets faster and have to by more. I have TopFin pellets and even they say I should be feeding my bettas 3-4 pellets twice a day...that's 6-8 pellets a day! O_o My bettas would explode!

I think I gave him six or so, but he only eats once a day, and some days I don't feed him (I heard somewhere that that was alright... correct me if I'm wrong D:). I may have overfed him a little today, though D:. I will give him less next time.

Yay I was quoted! XD My gosh that post was from a long time ago O_O How did you find that?!

Anywhoo! I would start feeding him significantly less. I only feed my betta 3-4 pellets a day. If I give him a treat like a bloodworm or two he only gets 2 pellets that day. You are right about it being good for them to have a day without food. If you don't do this your fish may become constipated. Think about it this way. A fish's stomach is only as big as its eyeball and those pellets expand.

I would like to point out that the last two pictures there are of females that are full of eggs, rather than fish that were fed too much.

How many fish and what types are they? : 1 Goldfish
How long has it been running? : Longer than I can remember.
Did you cycle it? : No, I didn't know what cycling was back then.
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels? : I have not gotten a testing kit yet.
What is the issue or question? :
How do I get the filter to work better? It has been running slow and the water is becoming cloudy.
( Do not suggest putting him in another tank, he is very agresive.

What is the issue or question? :
How do I kill off unwelcome snails? They have decided to come in and take over.
If I'm not answering, I'm probably at work. I usually get on in the late evening my time (listed timezone below)

Pronouns are they/them and you can call me Starfalling, M, or Morgan. I'm in Pennsylvania which is on EST (CStime -4)

I love trading, although I'm recently back from a long hiatus so I'm not fully up to date on demand. For any current event pets, I’ll only trade them away if I have a double, and I don't trade growing pets Real life got hectic and I somehow missed the whole month of May on here. Looking for all May pets, will keep WL updated as I go

I use bold a lot because it's easier for me to read, since you can't change other people's font size and being zoomed in constantly is annoying

I am a holibomber!
Sig was getting long, my counts have been moved to trade rules

Are they pond snails? They multiply like crazy. Most Loaches will eat them, as well as puffers. Another option is another snail, an Assassin Snail, like their name they kill other snails. Assassin snails need a male and female to reproduce, so one would have them without babies. If you don't want fish in there yet, build a trap! Use some lettuce and place it on the bottom, leave it for a few hours or till the next morning, then remove and toss. Repeat. This will take longer and will never completely remove them, but it will reduce the number.
