Ahhh alright ^^ it is adorable lol I wonder why they like sitting on your tank, maybe cause it is warm?

Actually he is an Indian ring neck. There are a few differences between Indian IRs and African IRs but they both look identical unless they are side by side.
If you really want to be technical, he is a lutino Indian ring neck. :)
I think because:
1 The light is warm. :)
2 They like to watch the fish swim by. :)
They are really intelligent, so I'm not surprised they want to watch fish.

Lol its ok.
Our cat is relatively good when it comes to the birds and fish. Squirt bottles with water are very handy.

Finally got some Hikari Bio-Gold for my Betta :D. It's a good thing Pyro's not picky.

Also, how would I go about washing his gravel? Last time I changed his water (a few days ago, changing it again when my roommate gets back), it was pretty dirty.

There are two ways you could go about cleaning your gravel :)
The easiest way would be to get a gravel vac.
A really difficult way would be to take him out and empty all the gravel out and clean it by hand.

Unfortunately, he's in a bowl, so I have to do it the hard way.

When you do it don't use tap water. You have benfical bacteria in the gravel so take him out. Put the gravel in a separate bowl with tank water, clean your bowl. Add new conditioned water, gravel then fish.

You can also use a turkey baster to suck up debries in place of a gravel vaccume so you don't have to do it the hard way. :)

Don't know how I'd find a turkey baster in a college dorm XD. But yeah, I'll see what I can do. I think it's all old food that sank to the bottom.

betta only need 4 pellets aday some like to give 2 in the morning and 2 at night, if he doesnt eat them all make sure you take them out as leaving them in will add to the ammonia and as hes in a bowl with out a filter you need to keep it as clean as you can

I gave him a little more than that today, which I believe he ate all of. Hikari pellets are extremely small. All of the dirt was from his old pellets, which were so big I had to crush them. Should be better now that he has food he can actually eat, but I still need to clean his gravel to get all of the old gunk out of there.

Edit: It says to give him 5-10 pellets up to three times daily.
