Echo glanced away, shaking her head to herself. Surely nothing had happened. She was just imagining things. She turned back and watched Jay play with the beetle.

Akira froze. Her tail tucked a bit between her legs. Her ears flicked as she looked around warily. She had heard the faint sound of pawsteps in the distance.
