What exact is a fursona?

That's just a question that popped into my mind. I don't get exactly what a fursona is. Can someone tell me?

A fursona is, basically, you in animal form--not just a character that has markings that represents you, that's really just an original character {OC}, or an anima. So basically just think of them as a self-portrait of yourself as an animal, or what you would look like if you were an animal/were born as an animal etc.

Fursonas don't have to be crazy or rainbowy, or even plain. They can be what you truly feel, like if a design as simple as a silver tabby cat feels you, go with it, don't worry about what other people think, just go with what feels like you. :3

Baicly what Rainwolf said x3 You don't have to go all out for the design, my fursona is pretty plain but it feels right to me so thats all it matters.

Also my two cents the animal you choose does not have to share the same personality trats with you due to the fact just like humans, animals can have their own personality. You can take an animal that you are close to and give it your personality. Like me, my fursona is a rabbit(a english spot to be excat but thats besides the point XD). I feel close to rabbits but I don't nessarily have the same personality that most people think rabbits have,but I couldn't see myself as any other type of animal. So when shoosing a species just keep that in mind ^-^
