Ths is just from my point of view...

So I'm REALLY good at looking a something and copying it, which we do a lot of the time in social studies, but when I free draw, i;m no good, which is whhy im trying not to use references usless i need proportions. I suggest using the refece when you REALLY need to. And I suggest traditional, because once you get that down, you'll be able to transfer from that to the computer.

Aww, that's okay! I mean, I use references to draw things I've never drawn before, and I'm pretty good at that. But most of the time, I need to just make the picture up on my own, I can't copy a whole entire drawing..

And personally, I don't do computerize drawing. I do traditional, with a sketchbook and pencil, so then I can do it anywhere! Sudden inspiration, I can draw it! XD

Hmm, sounds to me like you're using references to figure out, say, what a paw would look like from a certain angle. To get yourself to stop using so many referenced, try to learn not how a paw looks, but how it's formed. That way, you can pretty much draw a paw from most angles, or at least figure it out and practice it. :3

For the second, I think if you're good at one, you're at least okay at the other, and could be good with a little practice. I'd just advise you to do whatever you like best, or both. :3
