Rockclan
Graystone dreamt more of his apprentice days.
"Soft-Rain..."
"Yes?" the cream colored she cat turned to him, her pretty dusky-rose colored eyes gazing at him.
"Do you ever wish that you were something other than a medicine cat? That you a warrior?"
The she-cat chuckled gently.
"No. I became a medicine cat because I believe that the strength of a clan comes from the bonds and care for each other they share, not the size of their bodies or the length of their claws. Being a medicine cat means that you can nurture that bond, and allow others to get closer to each other than they were before. It makes them worry for each other when their sick, or anxious when they have a serious injury. Caring for one another makes your spirit stronger, you are fearless when it comes to protecting those you care about."
Her tail brushed his chin, lifting it up so that his eyes met hers.
"Remember, Graypaw. The strength in a clan lies in the strength of their hearts, not their strength alone." She turned and exited the medicine cat's den.
The memory faded away, and melted into another.
It was raining, the night sky hiding the drops until they hit the ground. Graypaw was panting heavily, his eyes wide. Soft-rain was on the ground, her silky cream fur plastered with fresh blood. Her mouth was closed, but blood leaked out of one corner. The wound started at her throat and opened up all the way into her chest cavity, her rib cage showing. But what was the most terrifying of all was that her beautiful eyes were closed, never to open again.
S-Soft-rain...?" he choked. The rain started pouring, his fur plastering to his body. But he didn't even notice.
"SOFT-RAAAAIN!" he yowled. His cry echoed throughout the entire territory. Lightning split the sky
Just then, a dark laugh slithered out of the shadows. Graypaw whirled around, searching wildly. Then the lightning lit up the sky, and Graypaw saw it.
A dark black tom stood on top of a boulder on what apprentices called the Rock Pillar. His teeth gleamed white. His ears both had one nick each, and were brownish. No...not brown. Something was on them. The tom's paws, muzzle, teeth, and fur were covered with the same substance. It gleamed in the light of the lightning, it looked wet and sticky. The tom laughed again, louder. His bright yellow eyes seemed to peirce Graypaw's soul. He opened his mouth wider to reveal a gleaming white fanged smile, but they were dripping with red. Red?
Then it hit him. The tom was covered with blood. Soft-Rain's blood. The tom yowled with a sinister laugh, and then disappeared.
