This is a very ignorant and uneducated stance. Sometimes wolves CAN get overpopulated, and while nature COULD take its course and the excess wolves could just
starve to death, I think it's more humane to instead allow people to give them a quick death rather than a prolonged and painful one.
People are overpopulating too. But we will not starve beause we are alowed to kill animals... But everyone gets all worked up when they kill a cow. They will kill the intire pack... They did. Grr and the people only sell the cows to be killed... money money money

i couldn't agree more ren<3
wolves will starve because we refuse to let them eat. We are 1 billion times more populated than them, and we don't starve. that's is because we hold our own murder houses for our food and money. wolves don't get that gift in life. If they kill a cow, people over-react and kill several packs because they were hungry from us taking their food and land away. We won't even let them kill their natural prey, which is really sad. We kill them because they kill the elk, so that we can kill the elk. quite selfish, aren't we? WE are what's causing them to starve, not their population.

How do you know the wolves were hungry? I mean, sure, they have to eat too, but a lot of the time wolves don't kill livestock because they're hungry, they kill because they have found slow, easy to kill prey and will take the opportunity to kill all they can – that’s when surplus killing comes into play, and if the farmer/rancher/whatever you want to call it can’t deter the wolves from coming back again and again, they have to kill them.
And not all people who kill wolves or other animals to protect their animals are doing it just so that they can make a profit. A lot off the time it’s just people killing the animals to protect their beloved pets, not their source of money.
And to call the killing of animals ‘murder’, yet support this ‘murder’ by buying meat makes little sense to me. If you think it’s wrong to kill an animal, become a vegetarian. No offense, bro.
And there's plenty of people that starve, simply because they can't afford food. Wolves aren't the only ones that suffer because of overpopulation/when they reach their carrying capacity.

The only issue with that stance is that even if there are plenty of other prey animals in the area, wolves will still go for livestock. Cows are easy prey, they are often slow to run and even slower to fight back, unlike an elk.
People do not kill several packs if only one is preying on cattle. We do not refuse to let cows eat. They can eat all the deer, elk, rabbits, wild animals they want. They just need to stay away from our way of life, i.e our livestock.
We don't kill them for killing elk. Where did you even get that from?

we do kill them for killing elk v.v
that's the only thing imma respond to because whatever i say just makes things worse, and obviously nobody agrees with me even though this is a thread for saving wolves
but anyway, yeah... and we should no this best because we live in colorado. the whole reason we don't have wolves here, is because we have the highest population of elk and hunters aren't willing to share it. we don't want to loose our precious yearly killing spree, no no. people do it in other states too.
this poster was created by someone, and i honestly couldn't agree with it more. the only thing i would change is not seclude it to one state

Proof please?
Something from an official site saying that we kill wolves so that we can keep the elk all to ourselves is all it would take to change my mind...
As a hunter myself, I could care less if wolves prey on the elk. In fact, introducing wolves into Rocky Mountain National Park would make me very happy, as the park could do very well with them. Elk in RMNP are overpopulated, so predation wouldn't do too much to the numbers that hunters like to see.
Have you ever been to RMNP? If you have, did you notice the giant green gates? Those gates aren't to keep the elk in. They're to keep them out. RMNP would do very well with wolves, and I would love to see them there <3

I am sorry, but i honestly didn't get it from the internet...
the only proof i have is my friend's parents, and other people I know. they tell me their opinions. I also just absorb what other people say around me... I am sorry that the only proof i have is my words. You are a good person then, to think that. I know a lot of people who wish to keep wolves out to continue to hunt colorado's prized possession.
and that's sad about RMNP... i never really took attention to the fence. and yes, i agree, if only we could have wolves here<3 sadly the only wolves who made it here from wyoming were shot and the other hit my a car....

The roles of wolves in the ecosystem is very important. They are keystone species and we need them. They maintain biodiversity. If you shoot all the wolves in a certain area, because you want the elk population to rise, you're just going to screw everything up. With no wolves, the elk won't be scared and they will become like... well, cattle. And with too much elk, they overgraze and kill willow trees, and birds live in those willow trees, plus, no shade from the trees by rivers will kill fish who depend on shade in the water, etc. See where I'm going with this? If there is a healthy balance, there is no need to kill all the wolves in the area. Instead of killing them, why don't we maintain their levels? I understand some places may not clear the entire area of them, I'm not sure, but where I live, there is actually a bounty on the wolves. Just in my province. A bounty. $300 per wolf shot. Why? Because the wolves are killing livestock. But, in my province, only 1% of livestock have actually been killed by wolves. And our tax dollars are going to pay these hunters for killing the wolves. Ugh, it disgusts me. Hopefully, this dumb bounty will be stopped soon. I signed four petitions and I'm waiting for October 15th for a meeting on the bounty because there are quite a few angry people. And they aren't even very many wolves in Canada.
