Entry Thirty-Two

AND I QUOTE: "Wow. You're kinda weird. ...And I think you're really cool."
Guess who got a friend today, JDT? That's right--I did! I got a friend I got a friend I got a FRIEND.
Here's what she looks like:

Image

Me and Ash had just sat down in English when she came walking through the door. She was totally normal at first glance, but then I noticed the fins and suppressed a gasp. She saw me and crossed the room, sitting down on the left side of me. At lunch she sat with us and we all talked. She said she's an old experiment of Bleu's. Ash growled when she said that. After awhile we found out we both like the same things and just like that.. I've got a new friend.
Oh, right. Her name is Kandi.

And did I mention she's coming over for dinner tonight? Well, she is. In fact... I just heard a car pull up in the driveway. I bet that's her. I'll write more later or something.

SADAKODFHFGJSFSGHDFHSGDHFHAFERYGH.
Ahem. I was working on this and then my f-ing browser decided to crash and I hadn't saved what I had written so now I'm pissed off.
*sigh* Let's try this again.

Entry Thirty-Three

Ash and I are in his car now, driving to... wherever the heck this place is. Ash says he knows the area, but I'm pretty sure he looked it up on some map program.
So while we're driving, I'll talk about what happened at school today.

When we first got to school, I found an envelope taped to my locker. I opened it and found a folded-up sheet of notebook paper.

"Meet me here at four."

And underneath was an address and Kandi's signature. I glanced over at Ash, who shrugged. He didn't seem to know anything about this. Which was good, because I would be upset if he knew something I didn't know and didn't tell me. I mean, I know he knows a thousand things that I don't know, but you know what I mean.

All through the day I expected Kandi to come strolling into the room, but she never did. "Didn't show up for the first day of school, here for the second, gone for the third. If this is going to turn out to be a pattern, she's so going to get held back." Ash laughed at that, which made me jump. Ash doesn't laugh too awful much, so I was naturally surprised. I kinda wonder if maybe something happened to him when he was younger...
ANYWAYS. At lunch I sat down and you know who walked by? Bailey. You'd think that last year she got her fill of making fun of me, but apparently not. She walked by me and said, out loud for everyone around to hear, "Wow, Kylie. When did you grow wings, hmm? I mean, I'm all for you getting surgery to make you look better, but you kinda failed."
I facepaw'ed.
"Go away, Bailey," Ash muttered through a full mouth. "No one here likes you, so just go away."
Bailey scoffed and walked over to sit with her sisters.
I'm in for a heck of a ride this year, aren't I?
Not much happened for the rest of the day. There was a pop quiz in history, though. Pretty sure I aced it. It was basically reviewing what we learned last year. What a yawn-fest.
So after school I dumped my backpack and junk at home and waited for Ash to come pick me up. It was only a few minutes before Ash's car was in the driveway, just waiting for me. I ran outside and jumped in. And now we're parked in front of the house with the address Kandi left.
We're getting out of the car now. I stretch my wings. I have no idea if I can fly with them--I've never tried--but just in case I have to try...
I'll catch you up on what happens later.

Entry Thirty-Four

Image Image Image Image Image Image

I've been here with these guys for over two hours and I still don't believe it. Allow me to explain.

When Ash and I got out of the car we walked right up to the door. Ash knocked three times before Kandi came rushing to the door. "Oh, good," she said. "I was afraid you wouldn't come."
We followed her down the hall to a staircase that led down. I looked around nervously. Ash went down first, bless his heart. I swear he's the sweetest guy on the face of the planet. Honestly.
ANYWAYS.

When we got to the bottom of the stairs and I looked out into the room they ended at, I couldn't help but gasp. There were six other dogs in the room, four of which had some unnatural growth like I do. Only, it wasn't necessarily extra fur or wings. Two had a shark's fins and tail, one had a shark tail and fins like Kandi's, and the other boy just had plain black wings.
If I didn't have Ash, I would totally have been interested in the one with black wings.
Then there were the other two. They looked entirely normal. Well, relatively normal.
"Kylie, Ash, meet the gang." She pointed to a black-and-blue dog with a frog in the chair next to her. "That's our leader, Stephanie."
She pointed to the girl in the chair next to Stephanie, a pretty silverish-grayish and white dog wearing a dress and bent over a book. "That there is our girl Aurora."
Next she pointed to the black female dog with fins like Kandi's and a shark tail and a blindfold around her eyes. "That's Cloud. If you want to know the story behind the blindfold, you'll have to ask her about it. It's not my story to tell."
The next dog she pointed to was a boy with a shark tail and fins. The only thing on him was a necklace with a golden pendant. "That's Ryan. He's... well... You know, Ryan. There just aren't any words I can think of that describe him. And next to him," she pointed to the black dog, "is Nate. I can't really describe him, either."
And that brought us to the last dog, a boy with the same hairstyle as Nate but purple and shark fins and a tail. "Henry." And that was all Kandi said about him. (Yeah, those pictures at the top of the entry? Those are the ones I got introduced to today. The pictures are lined up with the order Kandi told me about them in, so if you need to know what they all look like... They're up there.)

The girl named Stephanie got out of her chair and walked over to us, frog in paw. "I take it you're Kylie, yes?"
I blinked and shook my head. "Y-Yeah, I am... And this is Ash," I quickly added, pointing to Ash.
She smiled and Kandi went to sit next to Ryan. "Well," Stephanie continued, "it's nice to meet both of you. I know you're probably both hopelessly confused, so allow me to explain a few things.
"For one, you aren't the only one that Bleu guy has messed up, obviously. Poor Cloud was only ten when Bleu got to her. You see, he's a bit of a liar. Yes, there are very few of his find left and they do need protection because the death of one species could be the death of others, but he's blown it out of proportion. See... He seems to enjoy messing people up like this. He doesn't understand the concept of leaving people the way they are. No, he changes them and then waits until he knows their gone and moves on to the next unsuspecting victim.
"I know this sounds crazy. After all, who in their right mind would mess with the person trying to help them?
"He would."
She paused. In the brief moment she wasn't speaking, Nate got up and crossed the room to her side. I didn't even see him get up. I just blinked and he was there. He was staring intently at Ash. I glanced over at Ash, who was staring at Nate.
Ash blinked and whispered, "Y-You..."
You know those scenes in mushy movies how when two people who haven't seen each other in a long time have an epic hug-fest? Well, that's pretty much what happened. I stared at the two in confusion, wondering why my Ash was hugging a guy he just met.
Stephanie raised an eyebrow. "Well that's fascinating. It appears your Ash and my Nate are the same.. We always thought Nate was the only one, but it looks like we were wrong. It appears there's at least one more were-vampdog than we knew about."
If I had been sitting at a table about then, I would have flipped it. There was someone else like Ash and four others like me. That might not be table-flipping worthy, but...

So we've been hanging out with these guys since then. It's actually really cool. They're a secret group who want to take down Bleu. Right about now, I'm pretty happy I met Kandi and pretty happy she introduced me to these guys.

:'D You people are too nice to me.

Entry Thirty-Five

Guess what?
No one can make fun of my wings now.
Before me and Ash left Stephanie and them--Ash was really dragging his feet; he was way interested in talking to Nate--the girl with the book, Aurora, walked over to me and muttered a few words I didn't know. When she was done, she looked me in the eye and said, "Now no one outside of the group will be able to see your wings and your fur. I've included Ash in the spell, so he'll be able to see them too. Just know that just because others can't see them doesn't mean they can't touch them, so be careful."
I silently thanked her. That was the first time she'd spoken since I'd been there and her voice was much higher and sweeter than I would have expected. I decided that I'm going to try to be friends with her.
After ten minutes of waiting to leave, I dragged Ash out of the room by his ear.
"May I ask why you dragged me out of there?" he asked when we were in the car.
"Because if I don't get home soon, dad'll be really pissed off and that's not a pretty thing. I mean, I know you're excited that there's someone else like you, however impossible that seems, but I can't stay out all night like you can," I replied.
He sighed. "I hate it when you're right."
I grinned and he turned the radio up so he wouldn't have to hear me talk. Any normal girl would've been offended, but I just laughed. That was so typical Ash.
Dad wasn't happy I was late, but he didn't throw too much of a fit when he didn't see my wings any more. I ate dinner quickly and ran upstairs just in time to catch the show I wanted to watch.
Ash didn't need to know that the show was the reason I was so ready to get home.
Frankly, I don't know what to make of everything that's happened lately. I mean... Sigh. But things'll work themselves out eventually, right? 'Cause if they don't...

Entry Thirty-Six

I don't even know how to describe today, so I'll just skip to the part when I talk about what exactly happened.

When I first got to school, the first thing I did was look around for Ash. I couldn't find him, which kinda worried me. Ash is always there, just waiting for me. I sighed and decided that he was probably off talking to Nate again. Glob knows how much those two are going to be hanging out now.
Anyways, I brushed off the fact that he wasn't there and went straight to my first class. Normally I'd be okay with it, because Ash was always next to me. But it looked like I'd have to suffer through class alone today. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was Bailey and her sisters. Behind them were Belle and Moon and Juan. They were all glaring at me. I took a deep breath and walked past them to my seat in the back of the room. I dunno what happened to them, but I know that they aren't the people they were a long time ago. With a sigh I pulled out my notebook and opened to a fresh page and waited for the teacher to come in.
Only the dog who walked in was not our teacher. Nope, we had a substitute.
Let the fun begin.
"Listen and listen good," the dog barked. "My name is Penelope Scott. I'm a good friend of your teacher's, and I know who all of you are, where you sit, and who you talk to. If you try anything just because I'm a sub, I will know, and you will get in trouble."
Aw. No fun. Too bad.
Class was long. And boring. I don't like that lady. She's kinda mean. Very, very pretty (I actually found myself wishing I could look like her), but also mean.
When lunch rolled around, I sat alone. It reminded me of the first day I saw Ash. I was sitting alone when a new guy walked into the room, dressed all in black, sharp, long fangs sticking out from his mouth... Bah, you've already heard that bit. Back somewhere in the first couple pages I think.
Then she came over. There's a girl in school named Veronica. She's never really had any friends, but it's never seemed to bother her. She's basically a punching bag all through high school. Everyone seems to make fun of her just because her hair is short and bright red and because she isn't a thousand pounds underweight like a few of the other girls. Personally, I've always thought that she's kinda cute.
ANYWAYS. She looked over and saw me sitting alone. I can't be sure what made her decided to do it, but she walked right over and sat down next to me. She looked down at her tray and whispered, "Hi."
I smiled. "Hey."
She looked over at me. "You don't mind if I sit here, do you? I just... I saw that you were alone and ever since Ash moved here you're never alone so I thought I'd come sit with you so you wouldn't have to be alone, but if you want me to leave just tell me and I'll go," she said quickly.
I chuckled. "Of course you can sit here. I don't mind. Actually, I think it'd be kinda cool for us to be friends."
And for the first time since she came to this school, she smiled and her eyes lit up. I knew I'd just made her day.
As it turns out, we actually have quite a bit in common. So I guess we're friends now. I'm not sure--I have no idea how she feels about me. But she seems to like me, sooo....
So after school I decided to go to the library. When I got there I made a mental note to buy a loaf of bread and feed the ducks in the pond behind the building. Once inside, I went straight to my favorite shelf and began looking for something that I hadn't read yet. I found one that looked promising, so I grabbed it and went to the front desk. I checked it out and then went to sit at one of the tables to start reading. I wasn't ready to go home. Not yet.
Something possessed me to look up. When I looked, one of Renn's buddies was standing at the opposite end of the table, staring at me. I sighed and laid the book down. He half-smiled.
"Hello there. Where'd your wings go, hmm?"
I sighed again and rolled my eyes. "What? Can't a girl go back on a decision?" Nobody needed to know that some girl but a spell on me so no one that wasn't included in the spell could see them.
He shrugged and sat down. I watched as he pulled something from his jacket pocket and slid it across the table to me. I took it from him, curious as to what the heck it could be. It was a piece of paper.
And I quote:

"We know who you are. You're going to go against Bleu. Yes, that's right. We know Bleu. And we know all about you. If you think we'll let you get close to him, you're sadly mistaken. We'll kill you before you kill him. And trust me when I say that that is the truth. We can hurt you and we can hurt you bad. Heck, we don't even need to kill you. No, there's worse things we could do. And you don't want to know what they are. So don't even try to lay a paw on him. We know where you sleep."

When I looked up, he was gone.
