1. Where are these birds found?
2. What is their Latin family name?
3. To what group of Kingfishers do these birds belong?
Grey-Headed Kingfisher:
1. North-west Africa stretching to Ethiopia, Somalia and some of Arabia, and South Africa.
2. Halcyon leucocephala
3. Tree Kingfishers(Wood Kingfishers)
Pied Kingfisher:
1. sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia, from Turkey to India to China
2. Ceryle rudis
3. Water Kingfisher
Malachite Kingfisher:
1. most of Africa that is south of the Sahara desert
2. Alcedo cristata
3. River Kingfisher
African Pygmy Kingfisher:
1. woodland, savanna and coastal forest in the Afrotropics
2. Ispidina picta(sometimes called Ceyx pictus)
3. insectivorous kingfishers
Giant Kingfisher:
1. M. m. maxima lives in open country and M. m. gigantea lives in the rainforest. Both live in Africa in the parts south of the Sahara
2. Megaceryle maxima
3. Water Kingfisher
Woodland Kingfisher:
1. tropical Africa south of the Sahara and from Pretoria and up
2. Halcyon senegalensis
3. Tree KIngfisher
Striped Kingfisher:
1. sub-Saharan Africa except in dense forests, the northeast, and the region south of northwest Namibia and northeast South Africa
2. Halcyon chelicuti
3. Tree Kingfisher
Yippee. Tried to include more than windsong, I guess. XP

uh, firestar? isn't this just repeating information some one else has already said?
edit: correct me if i'm wrong.... i mean.... if some one has already said it can you get more points?

I wasn't exactly repeating and I'm doing it just in case I can also get points. I mean, you can always try, and some answers that windsong put up were different than mine. So no, I still have a chance I hope. ;3

I'm looking for one-word answers to all the questions, so, so far, I'm not accepting any that have been submitted (too much for me to be concentrating on at once!). This doesn't mean that answers that have been submitted are wrong, just that each question should have one answer. Yes, it's much more complicated than just wikipedia-ing each species. Mwahahaha...
