Have you ever had a rat?: I currently have one ratlet. Shhh I know they are suppost to be in pairs. >w<;;; Due to various reasons I was unable to adopt 2 rats. I've had 4 rats before her, and don't worry, they were all in pairs. I've had rats for 5 years now and they are the most amazing little pets ever~
~~
Right now I have Daenerys. She's named after Daenerys from Game of Thrones, not just because she is american blue, (which is sorta silvery like Daenerys' hair color in GoT) but also her parents were siblings, like Daenerys' parents in GoT. I got her from a rat breeder an hour's drive from here shortly after I had to put my other rat down because she had 4 tumors. D=
Onto the photos~
Thar she is in the car on the way home. She slept almost the entire car ride and happily stayed in my lap. XD

She's doing her favorite thing to do besides eating in this photo, sleeping of course. XD
There's really bad yellow lighting in this photo, her coat is closest to the first photo, just a bit darker now that she's older.

And finally here she is glaring at me for taking pictures of her while she sleeps like a creeper. XD
Her cage looks like a war zone right now because I bought her this ball made of sticks from petsmart to gnaw on, and the sneaky little thing pulled all of the connector sticks out and randomly tossed bits of wood everywhere... XD
Right now I am sick and attempting to stay away from her, because I am overly, and relatively unfoundedly paranoid. Shortly after we got her from the breeder, she got an ear infection and headtilt, like a few of the other rats in her little. We brought her to the vet and she went onto antibiotics for a week. (I found feeding an unwilling, new baby rat who doesn't yet completely trust you medicine is a surprisingly painful experience, especially if you have never fed a rat medicine before.) But that aside, her balance improved and she hasn't seemed to be in pain for the past 6 months or so that I've had her, so I think her ear is better. She still does have a head tilt though, the poor little thing. D=

Oh and ~•MidnightDreamer•~, I use Carefresh bedding, which seems just okay. I wouldn't not recommend it, but I certainly don't know if it's my favorite. My rat much prefers sleeping on the top floor of the cage in an upside down house she likes to also pee in, but maybe that's just my rat's issue, not the bedding. XD
Food wise, I used to use Fiesta food, buuut then it gave me moths. We've had these moths in literally everything now for MONTHS. I have no idea how to get rid of them, and they built cocoons in my acrylic paints and laid eggs in my cereals and just.... ffff D=
Worst little buggers ever.
I don't know if that was the pet store I got it from, or if it was from the company. The bag was sealed, but bugs always find a way in.
I had switched to these terrible lab block things that the breeder recommended, but Dany wouldn't eat any of them at all, even though the breeder insisted they were the best. So, I am currently looking around for new foods myself. =/
Annnd the company that made my cage went out of business. Sorry 'm not too much help! XD
