What program do you use? Both .gif and .png support transparency, but if you are using MS Paint, you cannot make a transparent image regardless of what filetype you save it as. If you are using something like gimp or photoshop, though, you can easily make the image transparent.

MS Paint XD
I'll download some kind of art program later, but for now I'm sticking with paint because it's good enough. ^^

Yeah, you can make amazing things in paint if you try. ^^
If you want to make it transparent, you could use this site:
http://www.iaza.com/After you load the image, there's an option in the right column to make it transparent. :3
