What is a talaroko?
Talaroki (or singular, talaroko), are amphibious, fur-covered creatures that are very elusive and good at adapting to all sorts of environments. They can be found in almost any place close to water, with the exception of cities and tourist-filled beaches, but actually become very close to any humans that manage to find them.
Physiology
Amphibious - Being amphibious, Talaroki have both lungs and gills. Their gills are located right behind their ears, and are hidden by their large antlers. Being able to live in the water and on land makes avoiding predators much, much easier for the Talaroki, and this is one of the reasons their species has thrived without humans noticing.
Horns and Antlers – Protruding both from their cheekbones and the base of their jaw, Talaroki have decorative ‘horns’, or ‘antlers’. Both are covered in a soft, velvety fur, similar to that of a deer’s, and the few on their cheekbones are actually mildly luminescent. The ‘antlers’ of a Talaroko protect both its soft gills and the back of its neck.
Other Physical Traits – Talaroki have large ears, a furry ridge of hair on their back, and longer fur on their ankles, along with long, fin-tipped tails. Their tails are their main power for swimming, shooting them forward in the water at speeds up to 55 miles per hour when full grown.
