I had to admit that feeling his pale eyes rake over my body wasn't as uncomfortable as I would have originally thought it'd be. It was actually sort of flattering, knowing that even guys liked looking at me. It then occurred to me that perhaps I was going to be living with a boy that liked other boys - or maybe my gaydar wasn't as accurate as most people's. Either way, I had no problem with Joey being gay; to each his own, y'know? I would just have to get used to it. However, the pipsqueak was going need to learn very quickly not to invade my personal space all the time. I was about to mention something about it when he suddenly backed away, asking me to make him a cup of coffee for himself. What did I look like, a butler? "Sure, I guess," I replied amicably; I figured I may as well let my guest make himself at home.
As I retreated to the kitchen, the sounds of his efforts to drag his suitcase upstairs met my ears. The whine of frustration shouldn't have driven my thoughts straight to the gutter like it did. Overactive hormones really were one of the most irritating parts of being a teenage male. I tried to distract myself from the small flush of color staining my cheeks as I drained the pot of the last bit of the what could pretty much be considered my life source into a mug, the addict in me calling for another serving. I'd definitely had enough for the day, though; one more cup, and my hands would be quivering. I didn't exactly know what to add to the coffee, given that I'd just met the guy - though, as a Starbucks employee, I had gained quite the bit of knowledge as to what most people liked... and just a small variety of different things to add.
By the time I had finished making Joey his cup of coffee - I'd ended up pouring my usual amount of sugar and a caramel creamer in, turning it almost as pale as his skin - I could hear faint footsteps coming down the stairs. He'd spent a bit longer than I'd thought he would up there. Was he just checking out my room? It was to be expected, since that's where he'd be staying for the next three months. I glanced over to the doorway leading from the living room to the kitchen to see my new roommate sauntering in with tired eyes. An amused half-smirk played at my lips as I grasped the handle of the mug, handing it to him. "Here you go, man; enjoy." I watched him take a sip of the scalding drink, the noises coming from his throat again going straight to the wrong part of my mind. When he relocated to one of the stools standing behind the counter, I followed, taking a seat next to him.
When he asked of my mother, I had to rack my brain for her whereabouts. Between waking up to her evicting me from my room for the day and Joey's arrival, I'd lost track of her. "If I remember right, she's probably somewhere around here, cleaning; she's been sort of frazzled since she woke me up this morning. Guess she wanted to make a good impression on you or something," I replied with a soft chuckle as he got to his feet. The next thing I knew, there he was, putting his hands on me again. He really seemed to enjoy touching me. I guessed I'd have to lay down the law after he got settled in - I didn't want to make him uncomfortable as soon as he set foot in my home. "You'll, uh, probably get to meet her in a bit, even if she's kind of just buzzing around the house right now."
