G.I.N.G.E.R [ n/a ] ........... Stella [ f ]
[ General Intelligent National Galactic Exploration Replicant ]
--
The familiar clicks and whirs of circuits switching on and off welcomed the girl as she stepped into the room, a rush of cold air tossing her hair backwards. She drew in a shaky breath, squeezing her fingers into tight fists. The room would not be inviting to anyone unless they were brought up in this sort of environment, and it was evident that this child was raised in conditions similar to those of the room. As she walked, she caught a glimpse of her reflection on one of the stainless steel walls. She became so infatuated with it that she nearly stumbled off the narrow path that led from the doorway to a overhang in the center of the room. She regained her balance, doing her best not to look down at the ground which was 100-something feet under her own two shoes. The pathway that led to the overhang was made of a opaque white material that felt solid under the girl's feet; it was two feet wide at the most, and there were no railings. A thought crossed the young girl's mind as she tread gingerly down the suspended bridge, her face pulled down into a sour frown. Why would they design the walkway without railings when there would be little girls walking across it? She pondered this thought as she continued down to the overhang, until she came to the conclusion that the architects did not anticipate a seven year old girl coming to visit N.A.S.A's largest super computer.
With a final hop, skip, and a jump, Stella reached the overhang, which thankfully [ unlike the walkway ] had a railing. A large control panel sat upright in a sealed glass compartment, and Stella set the palm of her hand onto the glass. Her petite fingers smudged the glass as she dragged her hand along the slick surface, her soft green eyes flickering back and forth between all of the switches and levers that were just out of her reach. A loud hum of a machine coming to life switched the girl's attention from the controls to the sound, and she immediately rushed to the railing and looked over to see exactly what she had come for. A large piece of equipment that looked to be a cross of one of those big telescopes and a mobile robotic unit attached to a track on the wall. It slowly made it's way up the track, it's head turning slowly to face Stella. It's "head" resembled that of a human, with two eyes, a mouth, and the vague hint of a nose. That being said, it lacked life inside of it's expression, ruining the illusion that it could have once possibly been human.
"Stella," it chimed in a mechanical voice, the corners of it's "lips" turning up in what could have passed as a smile. As it neared, Stella leaned father over the railing, stretching out one arm to try and touch the positronic machine. The device leaned it's massive "head" forwards to rest it in the girl's hand, small cameras in it's eyes focusing on the child. After a few moments of this improvised embrace, Stella returned to a relaxed position, retracting her hand and resting it back on the railing. "Did ya' miss me, Gingey?" Stella crooned in a voice slurred with innocence. G.I.N.G.E.R titled it's head to the side slightly, a distant whirring sounding from the bottom of the room where it's intelligence was based as it processed the question. It's stare met blankly with Stella's as it searched for an answer. "Robots are not like humans, Stella." It droned softly, the pitches of each word not quite matching the others. "We do not grow lonesome." It continued, it's head righting itself so that it was once again parallel with the ground. Stella's gaze softened with sadness, her eyebrows knitting together in concern. "But... ya' thought 'bout me, right?" She asked, worried that the robot did not like her. "Yes, I reviewed my photos of you that are stored in my memory banks." G.I.N.G.E.R recited from speakers surround the room, it's cameras refocusing on something behind Stella, it's [ sorry ] attempt of a smile disappearing.
The sound of footsteps caused Stella to look back as well, a shadow of confusion falling upon her face. "Speaking of memory banks," He chortled in a dark voice, the sound like thunder. G.I.N.G.E.R turned to face away from Stella, it's eyes somehow to manage to pull off a look of genuine distress. "...G.I.N.G.E.R's memory banks are being cleaned out tomorrow. We're getting rid of everything other than the images of deep space to make room for more." He explained to Stella, using words that she would hopefully understand. She took a few moments to process the information given to her, her eyes focused on the ground. When she looked up, she revealed to G.I.N.G.E.R and the man that her eyes were full of tears. "But she's gonna 'member me, right?" She cried out in a voice that was filled with a large amount of emotion for a seven year old. The man's face fell, and a sound of distress resounded from G.I.N.G.E.R's sound system. She maintained her gaze with the man, a single tear slipping down her cheek. "Right?!" She demanded, more tears threatening to spill. The man shook his head slowly, shrugging softly as if to say "there's nothing I can do". "I'm sorry." He said, taking a staggering step backwards, his hands clutching a clipboard to his chest.
The next few minutes Stella spent sobbing. She held the machine's "head" in an embrace, her arms barely able to wrap their way half-way around G.I.N.G.E.R's massive piece of emotive equipment. When Stella finally quieted her cries, she rested her head against G.I.N.G.E.R's. "... do ya' remember that time that... I made you laugh?" Stella asked in a whisper, turning her head so that she was looking into the machine's "eyes". It returned her gaze, the same soft smile from earlier playing upon it's "face". "Yes- it made me feel like you." Stella blinked away the final tears, rubbing her face with her sleeve. "Like me?" She repeated shakily. G.I.N.G.E.R nodded it's massive "head", struggling to speak. "Yes... human." Stella nestled herself even closer to the massive robot, smiling bitter-sweetly. "You make me feel human even now- the inevitable probability of those memories being erased forever makes me feel a form of synthetic sorrow." It continued, it's A.I processors below humming as it spoke. "I feel sad, too." Stella breathed, her voice barely a whisper. "I'm going to miss you."

G.I.N.G.E.R [ n/a ] ........... Stella [ f ]
[ General Intelligent National Galactic Exploration Replicant ]
--
They had worked on it all week- not only had they cleaned it's memories, but they had given it new physical functions, allowing it more mobility. Stella came back every day to check if they were done, until exactly one week and one day from when they had started working on G.I.N.G.E.R, they were done. Stella was the first one allowed to visit it after the changes they had made, and she most certainly had ants in her pants. When they let her inside of the massive room where they stored the massive supercomputer, she ran down the walkway as opposed to making her way down it carefully. That was where she went wrong. Every time she came to visit, Stella had taken care not to fall. But on this day, she had other things on her mind- she wasn't paying enough attention to be careful. All it took was one mistake, one untied shoelace to send Stella tumbling down, she reached out in terror to grab onto the side of the walkway which was already far out of her reach. She tried to scream, but it was stuck in her throat. The scientists that had followed her in reached out helplessly, yelling back after her. She watched them get smaller and smaller as she fell, and when she saw them look away, she knew that she was close to the bottom; seconds away from death.
And then it was over.
Snap. Snap. G.I.N.G.E.R's cameras snapped pictures of the Horsehead Nebula, focusing on a different star in each picture. There was a sound of commotion behind it, so out of curiosity, it turned to see what had happened. It's cameras focused on the scientists half-way between the doorway and the overhang, all overcome with various emotions. Some sadness, some disgust, some terror; G.I.N.G.E.R was confused. It smiled in melancholy with it's new emotion diodes, knowing that even though it could pull off the illusion of emotions, it would never be able to truly feel them like it's creators. It focused it's attention from the scientists to what they were looking at underneath them. From the distance it was at, G.I.N.G.E.R could see nothing but a small pool of red. The various cameras inside of it's "eyes" whirred and clicked and they zoomed and focused, and it was genuinely surprised at what it saw. It moved forward on it's track towards the small crumpled body, curiosity getting the best of it. As it neared the scene, it felt something inside of it stir. Something that felt familiar; distant, but familiar. It leaned towards the lifeless body, it's cameras focusing on the image of the girl furiously, the A.I processors behind it roaring to life as the feeling inside of G.I.N.G.E.R began to grow, memories that were still far out of reach clogging it's head. It struggled furiously to try and remember, to try and identify this girl. And after straining to remember, G.I.N.G.E.R was stricken with realization; everything came back at once. The scientists did their best to remove the memories, but all they could do was suppress them. All it needed to revive them was a trigger, and this was trigger enough.
"Stella, Stella no!" G.I.N.G.E.R cried out, nuzzling the still warm body with it's forehead, blood smearing all over it's slick alloy metal cover. It pushed the body forwards, flipping Stella over onto her front side, the dent in her skull clearly visible now. "I remember, I remember, I remember..." G.I.N.G.E.R repeated, unable to process it's speech effectively. By this time, a medical team was on the scene and the scientists were at the control panel, overriding G.I.N.G.E.R's system to move her out of the way so that the medics could search for any signs of life, even though they all knew she was gone. Memories flashed through G.I.N.G.E.R's thoughts, and it's eyes squinted shut as it thought about the last time it saw her; alive, at least.
Stella wrote: "I feel sad, too." Stella breathed, her voice barely a whisper. "I'm going to miss you."
Opening it's eyes, G.I.N.G.E.R could do nothing but watch as they scrubbed blood from the floor and carried Stella out in a bag.
"I am going to miss you, too, Stella."

My heart is breaking wrote:torn. wrote:[my sister showed me this poem, and i got goosebumps. i'm sorry, i couldn't help but post it.
i didn't write it, i just hoped that it'd give you goosebumps too~
i don't take credit for writing it, i just wanted to share and didn't know where else to c:]

the father x the mother x the twins
a drunk man in Oldsmobile they said had run the light;
that caused the six-car pileup on 109 that night.
when broken bodies lay about, and blood was everywhere,
the sirens screamed out eulogies, for death was in the air.
a mother, trapped inside her car, was heard above the noise;
her plaintive plea near split the air: "oh god please spare my boys."
she fought to loose her pinned hands, she struggled to get free,
but mangled metal held her fast in grim captivity.
her frightened eyes then focused on
where the back seat once had been,
but all she saw was broken glass and
two children's seats crushed in.
her twins were nowhere to be seen,
she did not hear them cry,
and then she prayed they'd been thrown free.
"oh god, don't let them die!"
then firemen came and cut her loose,
but when they searched the back,
they found therein no little boys,
but the seat belts were intact.
they thought the woman had gone mad,
and was travelling alone,
but when they turned to question her,
they discovered nothing but her phone.
policemen saw her running wild,
and screaming above the noise.
in beseeching supplication,
"please help me find my boys!"
"they're four years old and wear blue shirts;
their jeans are blue to match."
one cop spoke up,
"they're in my car, and they don't have a scratch.
they said their daddy put them there and gave them each a cone,
then told them both to wait for mom to come and take them home.
i've searched the area high and low, but i can't find their dad.
he must have fled the scene, i guess, and that is very bad."
the mother hugged the twins and said,
"he could not flee the scene, you see,
for he's been dead a year."
the cop just looked confused and asked,
"now, how can that be true?"
the boys said,
"mommy, daddy came and left a kiss for you.
he told us not to worry,
and that you would be alright,
and then he put us in this car
with a pretty flashing light.
we wanted him to stay with us,
because we miss him so,
but mommy, he just hugged us tight,
and said he had to go.
he said someday we'd understand,
and told us not to fuss,
and he said to tell you, mommy,
that he's watching over us."
the mother knew without a doubt
that what they spoke was true,
for she recalled their dad's last words,
"i will watch over you."
the fireman's notes could not explain the twisted, mangled car,
and how the three of them escaped without a single scar.
but on the cop's report was scribed, in print so very fine,
an angel walked the beat tonight
on highway 109.
Only magical ponies !!
Oh god ;A; <3
That was beautiful. Amazing....stunning <33

"I had everything,
everything - and you took it away from me."
Odette screamed in agony as Alymer pressed the blade of his knife to her throat, drawing a thin line of blood. Her hands were bound behind her back, legs tied together at her knees. She was strapped to the cold metal chair, completely at the mercy of the crazed professor.
She shuddered violently as she felt his hot breath on the back of her neck, sobbing and moaning, "I didn't take anything, I didn't take anything, I swear. Let me go please, don't kill me, don't kill me." She choked out the words, tears streaming down her face.
Alymer kissed the back of her neck and grinned as he whispered in her ear, "Oh no, my sweet, you underestimate me. Killing you would be far to easy - almost like letting you completely off the hook. No, I'm going to do what you did to me and take away what means most to you. You deserve to suffer as much as I did, maybe even more."
The mad man walked over to the dark corner of the room and kicked whatever was lying there. A low, raspy moan sounded and Alymer snarled,
"Get up."
Odette watched as the dark mass rose from the floor and gasped as the light illuminated a face - it was
him.

many years ago, when i was still touched by the innocence of childhood, i had not a single ally in the whole world. my only friend had a pelt touched with starlight, a gaze bright and glimmering like a crystalline moon. she ruled the sky... or rather, she was the sky. the godly commander of the heavens. but she only showed her face at night, so it was only then that i was not plagued by loneliness. people claimed that she was not real, that the sky was only darkness filled with burning balls of fire that we called stars. but i knew they were wrong. because there was once a day where i spoke to the stars, and they spoke back.
"star light, star bright, first star i see tonight, i wish i may, i wish i might, have the wish i wish tonight." closing my eyes and pressing my small hands together as if in prayer, i continued, "i wish for a friend. just one."
"i will be your friend," said a soft voice accompanied by a trail of starlight that brushed away my tears, "it is lonely up here. will you come again sometime?"
"yes," i breathed, for i was too young to know of distrust, or lies, so i did not question her. and i am glad of it.
ooo
i have changed since then. i have seen the world. i have seen the suffering of every creature on this planet. i would give anything to go back to the days when my only care was to sit and speak with the sky. would she even recognize me? my hair has been stained pale from so long in the sun, my eyes have grown cold from suffering.
but still i sat, beneath the stars, now-familiar tears trickling down my cheeks.
"i've missed you," she said, lowing a sliver of starlight to dry my tears.
"i've missed you, too," i smiled sadly, "but we can be together forever now."
i closed my eyes, and they would never open again.

[ it changes from third person to first person |D ]

"You look just like your Father,"
She quietly whispered to her son. He smiled and looked up at her with brightly shining eyes. "Do I really, Mommy?" His small voice squeaked. The mother laughed and went silent, pausing for a second. She stared off onto the wall, where a picture of her husband hung.
"Of course. Your father was a great man, just like you." She hugged her son tightly. He looked where she was staring and forlornly frowned. "Mommy, where is Daddy? He should have been home by now! He's gonna miss my birthday in 2 days!" He whined.
The quiet mother sighed. "He's not coming home, I'm afraid. Not... Not yet. I'm sorry, Hun." The son's eyes welled with tears. "He won't be there to cut my birthday cake! Why isn't he coming home yet?"
"I'm sorry." She apologized in a slow, smooth tone. "He won't be coming home for a long time. He's moved somewhere else." The son looked up at his mother, confused and concerned. "Where?"
She smiled and pointed upwards. "In the clouds."

I spent my sixth birthday in an orphanage, and when I turned sixteen- I spent my birthdays alone on the streets.
My dad died when I was young, my mother died the day before my sixth birthday. No one was there to cut my cake. No one was there to see me open presents. No one was there to care.
Fortunately, I got a new house. Back with my family, up in the clouds.
Now I don't have to spend any of my birthdays alone, ever again.

Here I stand
Helpless and left for dead
Close your eyes
So many days go by
Easy to find what's wrong
Harder to find what's right
I believe in you, I can show you
That I can see right through all your empty lies
I won't stay long in this world so wrong
Say goodbye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Don't you dare look at him in the eye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Trembling
Crawling across my skin
Feeling your cold dead eyes
Stealing the life of mine
I believe in you, I can show you
That I can see right through all your empty lies
I won't last long in this world so wrong
Say goodbye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Don't you dare look at him in the eye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Hold on, hold on
Say goodbye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Don't you dare look at him in the eye
As we dance with the Devil tonight
Hold on, hold on
Goodbye

"Who are you miss?" The little boy asked quietly. He knew he shouldn't be talking to strangers, but he was 10 now! Surely he would be fine.
"What a landing!" She exclaimed. Shortly, she turned her gaze to the kid. Bending over, her blue eyes caught his dull brown.
"I am your dream. Hello!"He guessed this was possible, looking at her beautiful appearance, and at his rainbow pyjamas.
"Then, perhaps Miss, you could visit me again? It's late, and I should be asleep."She snorted and grinned weirdly.
"I'll see you again, promise."He turned around excitedly and ran home. He had a friend! A special friend who could fly! Maybe she'll take me away, to somewhere special... He thought silently.
He never knew that Angels could lie.
"Where are you, my love?"
