"I know..." Dain sighed. "All pain fades away in the end though."

Bill smiled at Ember and rubbed him behind the ears.

"Yeah... It can take a long time sometimes, though, and I don't want anyone to have to go through that..." Friesia said quietly, thinking of Dain's scar.

Ember laid on his side happily, enjoying himself...

"I know..." Dain said quietly.

Bill rubbed Ember's stomach, figuring he'd like it.

Friesia sighed. "I hate life. When I'm evil, I have nothing to lose; when I'm good, I have everything..."

Ember yipped happily, wagging his tail.

"We all have something to lose, that's why we fight to protect it..." Dain shrugged.

Bill laughed a bit and kept rubbing Ember's belly.

Friesia closed her eyes. "Yeah, I just wish we didn't have to protect it... I wish we weren't in danger of losing everything and everyone we care about."

Ember made small, happy puppy noises.

"If it's not worth fighting for, it's not worth having." Dain looked down at her.

Bill grinned. "I thought you were a full-grown dog!"

"It is worth fighting for... I just hope I don't lose anyone fighting for it." Friesia was trying to explain herself, but she was failing pretty badly...

Dain sighed slightly.

Friesia looked up at Dain. "But everything I have is definitely worth fighting for."
