My life is perfect.
She thought.

She had a loving husband, a great childhood, a family, a future. She had plans and dreams for her life. So many people told her how lucky she was, some with envy, others with hatred, and there were those loved ones who shared her "lucked" life.
So how had she come to this point?
The wind whipped her hair as she stood on a tall tall building. There was nothing special about the building really. Nothing except for the fact that down below there was a garden. She had always wanted a garden before. It was only one of many dreams that would die tonight. Only one of many.

As the wind picked up speed, she looked out over the edge of the building, her bare toes gripping the edge. The air smelled lovely. Like soft cut grass, flowers, and the promise of rain. She smiled and leaned farther out, the only thing keeping her from falling was her precarious grip on the metal sign behind her. She swung back and forth for a minute before sitting down on the edge.

"My life is perfect."
She said.

So why did she keep thinking about this moment? Letting go? It would be so easy. She didn't need a tall building to encourage her thoughts. She could be standing on the side of the road, and her feet would itch to step in front of the next car. She'd try to guess how fast they were going and if it would be fast enough to do the trick. Did it really suck that bad to drown? She'd heard it was like falling asleep. Too bad it doesn't snow where I live, she'd think to herself, it'd be so easy to wander outside in a blizzard and just...fall asleep. Cradled in the snow.

Cutting was too messy. Besides, she might mess up, and she could never live with that failure. She had to die perfect, just as she had (tried) to live perfect.

She had long rejected the thought of jumping. Honestly, though would it be so bad?
Everyone wanted to learn how to fly right?


With a sigh, she stood. She leaned behind her to pick something up first.
It was a mask. Something she had worn long ago to a party. She didn't know why she had brought it with her, but when she was in this type of mood she became impulsive.

Fingering the details and the glitter in the mask, she threw it with all her might off the top of the building, but it still had the audacity to float gracefully down to the ground.

"My life is perfect!"
She screamed.

And with that, she jumped. Her white dress billowed about her and the wind whistled violently in her ears.

I'm...I'm flying. I'm...
free."
Moments before the end, she laughed. It was the last sound she ever made.

Detective Aaron Mendoza squatted beside the crime scene. He fingered the soft dirt in front of him and stared. It wasn't the first of these kind of crime scenes he'd come to and he knew it wouldn't be the last. He heard his partners footsteps behind him and he stood, grateful to turn his back on the grisly scene.

"Do we know who she is?"
"Yes, she had identification on her. We already contacted the family. Strange thing is the family reports that she never showed any suicidal tendencies. Do you think this might be more?"
A glint of something beside two rocks caught the detective's attention. He stepped over to it and picked something up. Brushing off the dirt and cobwebs he saw it was a cheap plastic mask, the kind one could buy at any party store.
Grimly Aaron answered his partner, "More? What like a murder?"
He started to walk away his partner walking with him. He thought for a moment, then looked down at the mask one more.
"No, this isn't murder."
They both stopped for a moment and looked down at the mask. Aaron saw a huge crack in it that he hadn't noticed before. His partner murmured something pulling him from his thoughts.
"What was that?"
"I said, she was a person once. Now she's just a crime scene. Just a number in our files. Just a memory in someone's head. And we all know how long memories last...."
Their faces like stone they walked away. Away, to their families and lives and jobs.

We all know how long memories last.

"It won't be long, my darling,
Pick up the phone, nobody's on it.
Where are your friends now, baby?
All of the ones supposed to be there for...
You."

The teachers at my new school always wore white and blue.
I figured it was a dress code or something; the students had one, too.
We all wore pretty blue dresses, even the boys.
And they gave us each a bracelet on the first day.
That was really nice of them, because they must have known how much I love bracelets.
My little sister Jenna and my twin brother Jeremy were at the same school as me.
This was good, because I hadn't been making friends the way the teachers wanted me to.
I was trying, I really was, but my siblings always got in the way.
People gave them weird looks when they were around, and gave me weirder looks when I talked to them.
I don't really know why; maybe they were just jealous that the three of us were so close.
After a couple months at school, Jenna stopped talking to me.
She still followed me around, but never said anything.
I didn't like it; her silence scared me.
Then, not long after that, Jeremy stopped talking, too.
I didn't know what to do about it, because there was never a time when my siblings weren't chattering in my ears.
So I went to one of the teachers, and she was really helpful, even though I didn't really understand what she told me.
She said that Jeremy and Jenna weren't real.

I really like this....
At first I thought it would be totally different than how it actually ended.

I think you're right. Like they say the teachers wear white and blue, and all the kids wear blue dresses, which are hospital gowns. The bracelets could be ID bracelets.
Anyways, that was really good! I loved it!

"Snips, will ya' pass me that?" Jack began, waving his paw frantically at something on the floor as he tried to recall its name. Snips shot him a quick frown with slight amusement, their boss had left about an hour or so before, most likely to get some food. Jack pulled his paw back, almost like it had caught fire, he then began to fumble around in one of the machines. Snips picked up the screwdriver and leant over to hand him it, only to slip on oil and wedge the screwdriver into one of the mechanisms.

"Kylie! Dammit! I left you for an hour!" Oliver began to protest, only then to hang his head and push it into his paws. "Sir it wasn-" Jack tried to say, "Can it, Hopper!" Oliver cut in. "We have to let you go Kylie, you destroy.." Oliver gazed over at the mechanisms Kylie had 'stumbled' into, "..everything." Snips gulped and took a step towards Jack, her eyes welling over with slight tears, the only boy she had ever treated as an equal was now being snatched away from her. Oliver took her hand and began to lead her out of the door, Jack glanced up and tried to protest, "O-Oliver. D-Don't."

Jack rolled his neck and gave a frustrated huff, the snow on the park bench cutting through his jeans and causing him uncontrollable shivering, it was early morn and Jack was waiting for work to open. Jack clicked his tongue in his mouth and yawned, his breath curling off into the chilled air. A few people were around, I mean, of course they were. But one person stood out to him, Jack blinked and then stood, focusing on a blonde haired girl walking by the lake. "Snips..?" he thought aloud, walking over to her, "Excuse me, miss?" The girl turned round and pushed a strand of hair over her ear, a small beaten bat crawled over her shoulder and gave its wings a flustered flap, "Yeah?" she snapped, crossing her arms over her chest. Jack chuckled to himself, she was still the same, "It's Jack, we used to work together." He began to explain, Snips laughed and shot him a glare whilst saying slowly, "Yeah, okay." Jack gulped and chocked out, "Oh okay.. but, what do you mean 'Yeah okay'?" Snips rolled her eyes and shrugged, Jack looked crestfallen and spun round, walking off into the icy morn, "It means I wish you had ran after me.. and cared."
