Archangel Cuttlesworth with his Morning Cup

Postby Gelliebeen » Fri Aug 24, 2012 7:41 pm

This is my very first Oekaki ever
<;]

Which is why it's in the beginners forum. I caught on pretty quick, but I'm still surprised how good it turned out (If the mods feel like moving this to Intermediate, they're welcome to). I probably should have worked on the clouds some more, and his head fin is slightly off-center, but I have hand cramps. This actually started out as a picture of my cat to just screw around with the tools and stuff. Then I got bored and decided to paint one of my OCs, the gentle-fish Archangel Cuttlesworth drinking his morning (or night, I don't think there's any difference at that altitude) cup of tea.

Now that this is done with, I have a few questions:
1) Is there a way to turn the canvas to portrait, rather than landscape?
2) Can I post a WIP and actually get back to it later? [Edit: Ah, I see. I'll fix that stupid head fin later. It's driving me mad]
3) How do the editables and adoptables ones work? Is the painting just publicly edittable or something?

Anyway, enjoy the culture and society that only an Gentleman Archangel Cephalopod can bring.

EDIT: Ask and ye shall receive. I'm making a cloud tutorial in the intermediate forum. CLICK HERE TO GO SEE IT

[Edit to mods: This should probably be Intermediate, if that sort of thing matters. I started out in Beginner due to my lack of knowledge about the painting program ;p ]

Yep, first Oekaki ever. It was interesting learning to use fewer tools, and I still can't see much reason for a brush over maybe 20px. And to be honest I didn't use anything other than the pencil, and various opacities in the end.

I was having a hard time choosing whether I should go to Beginner or Intermediate. I'm an artist, so generally I would go to Intermediate, but since I'd never used Oekaki before I decided to go to Beginner. The picture of my cat I did before I erased it and did this guy would definately have been beginner. At this point, if I could move it to intermediate myself I would. If a mod rolls on by and wants to do it for me, all the better ;]

Yes, I'm on DA under Gelliebeen, but I pretty much never update it. I really should and I always mean to, but I never do.

Omahglob. You must teach me how to draw clouds x_x
And this drawing is amazing! I love the charrie, btw.
I wish I could think of something that awesome, lol.
Also, this MUST be moved to intermediate. It is the law. Now, please. ;3
And to answer your questions~~
1. In the toolbox, there's the icon that looks like two blue boxes and two arrows showing the box being tilted (you'll know what I mean when you see it). I believe that one is used to rotate the canvas to whatever angle you like.
3. With editables, anyone can edit. But you can(/should) add some rules, like not to remove your signature or claim lines as their own, edit the lines (if you don't want people to), etc.
And adoptables, I believe only you and people who you allow to color it in can. And you can charge pets for them or have them be free, whatever you like.

Haha. I would be happy to show you how to do clouds (somehow...I suppose I could get one of those livestream things). I love Cuddlesworth ;] I made him up on a whim a while ago when I was practicing drawing in Flash. Thanks for answering my questions! I might have to make an adoptable or two to help me get started on this site ;d

There. I editted the head fin so it wasn't so off center, fixed some shadows I was a little over-zealous on and added a blue reflected light onto the Sir to bring him into the picture more. Oh, and clouds. I didn't like the clouds in the lower right corner, so I made them softer.

I think I'll make a cloud tutorial next ;]

[Edit: Just noticed I worked exactly 5 hours on this *Ding*. Though, probably half an hour of that time is devoted to the previous cat scribble]
