Welcome to the Vocaloid fan club. A place where you can talk about Vocaloid related things (UTAU fans are welcome too~!)
What's Vocaloid you ask?
Vocaloid is a voice synthesizer program made by Yamaha.
Vocaloid is pretty much used to sing songs. There are multiple voices made by different companies, so far only in English, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese. Vocaloid became popular with the release of Miku Hatsune, made by Crypton.

What about UTAU?
To put it simply, UTAU is a free, lower quality version of Vocaloid.
Of course there are differences, but I won't go over them.
The most famous UTAU is Teto Kasane. UTAU can be downloaded here, on the official site.

Common Myths
1. Miku is the first Vocaloid: Definitely not true. She's not even the first Vocaloid2. She's simply the most popular vocaloid.
2. Crypton Vocaloids are the only real Vocaloids: Definitely not true either. Please do not say this. If it is made with Yamaha's software, it is an official Vocaloid.
3. Teto/Neru/Haku are Vocaloids: I'm sorry, but they aren't. Teto is an UTAU, and Neru and Haku are Fanmade Vocaloids made from Miku's voice. Just because they have been recognized by Crypton does not make them real Vocaloids.
4. Rin and Len are Twins/Mirror Images/Lovers: This may or may not be true. Their relation to each other depends on the particular song or story. So, please no arguing about this. xD

Regarding Pocaloid
Pocaloid is a cracked version of the actual Vocaloid software. It is highly looked down upon when people make songs using it, to make a profit. You can find more info about it or to see if you're Vocaloid software is genuine here.
