| naмe » Leina Krauss
· Pronounced "lay-nah cross". Her life as a servile in a wealthy family's estate was bound heavily with strict rules, and these stifling regulations meant that nicknames were rare to come by, as all address was stiff and formal. However, those closest to her call her "Lei".
| gender » Female
· Though considered a maid in status at the estate where she works, Leina is hardly demonstrative in femininity. She has no interest for lavishing attention to her appearance, nor does she adhere to the 'gentle, kind and submissive' characteristics considered feminine.
| age » 14
· She is fast approaching the age of fifteen, however.
| claѕѕ » Servile
· Her mother gave birth to her in the estate, and in accord to her Servile rank, Leina was destined to become the same: another servant in the manor. However, due to her rebellious regard to the position and lack of docility, she was placed into one of the lowest ranks as a cleaner.
| allιance » Gang
· After what she endured for the duration of her captivity with the G.O.B., Leina harbors a deep loathing and fear for the General Oblation Board. She has vowed to fight them to the death, and her hatred for them holds her strictly loyal to the gang.
| appearance » Brown Hair | Brown Eyes | 5'7'' | 110 lbs
· Leina is a lean, ruggedly built girl with no predominate characteristics attributing to beauty, her physique adapted for a single purpose: practicality. She lacks the embellishments that most girls necessitate as a part of their appearance, and her body, in entirety, is unadorned. Her long, coarse and slightly wavy dark hair hangs just past shoulder length, and due to habit from her days as a servile when it was required for her to keep her hair tied up in a ponytail while working, she is most commonly seen with her hair tied back neatly.
Long, dark eyelashes frame her eyes, which are, at a glance, are a deep shade of brown. However, when sunlight touches her eyes at a certain angle, upon close observation, a faint tinge of gold is visible just around her pupils and at the rims of her irises. Though not inexpressive, Leina wears a constant facade, keeping her true thoughts and feelings carefully locked away deep within, an expert at controlling her expression, actions, words and gestures to withhold her real emotions.
Her build, though lacking the slender grace and elegance that many girls desire, is lean and lanky, which allows her to have strength and endurance. Cleaning, though a simple and menial job, did require a fair amount of scrubbing, sweeping, lifting and mopping that built muscles another job might not have developed. Overall, her physique can be described as hardy and tenacious. Her body is also laced with faint scars in multiple locations; marks reminiscent of her days working at the estate. As a child, she was often beaten for disobedience, and servile work did involve occasional accidents that left their marks. A pale, distinctive scar traces her left jawline, and her hands are calloused from many hours of wielding a mop and broom.
| perѕonalιтy » Aloof. Passionate. Intuitive. Determined. Indomitable.
· Despite her life and destiny of a lowly servant, Leina's aspirations encompass far more than what fate has dealt her. Though one might expect a servile's upbringing to result in a meek, obedient girl, Leina's personality is the exact opposite. Due to the fact none of the other maids had children, Leina grew up alongside the manor owner's children instead; in particular, the youngest son, who was only an year older than her. She was a maid, yes, but she was given exposure to the immense luxury of the estate and the vast knowledge, education and politics that surrounded the manor's family. By the time the requirements of a servant were truly forced upon her, much of her core personality had already developed, including one powerful essential that practically dictated the rest of her personality's development.
Intuition. Naturally alert and observant to not only her surroundings but people: their gestures, words, actions and emotions, this ability gave Leina a heightened sense of perception. This, in turn, morphed in her into a realist. She sees things strictly for what they are, and seldom allows emotion or bias to cloud her judgement. Leina is able to quickly grasp the motives and stimuli behind one's words or actions, and is thus also more than aware of the treachery that can exist in the hearts of others.
Her intuition resulted in several other side effects; deeper empathy, an inclination to be manipulative, as well as a pessimistic view of humanity and cynicism. This, combined with the stifling submission required from servants, soon taught her to be inhibited and elusive, so that she keeps all her true thoughts, emotions and opinions locked away deep within her, seldom sharing them with anyone but her daemon. But most of all, her intuition caused her to sire a deep distrust for others. Though her demeanor is one of confidence and ease, and she appears to be affable and amicable, she actually holds herself very aloof and distant from others in relationships, taking care to avoid growing close or relying on another for her unabiding fear of betrayal. Though she is capable of caring deeply for others, she remains remote out of the deep, hidden fear of losing them. However, when she does develop attachments and bonds, her loyalty is absolute. Once she sets her heart and mind to something, few things can divert her from her goal.
Another fundamental characteristic of Leina's personality is her dogged determination and persistence. At times, this can be a strength, giving her the motivation needed to pull through a difficult situation and reach her goals, but under other circumstances, a hindrance. It causes her to cling stubbornly to her ideas and beliefs, even if it would be better to release them and move on, or open her eyes to a new concept. Leina is passionate in what she believes in, and will stand by her cause until the very end. Independent and self-reliant, she marches to the beat of her own drum, and can have a stubborn streak.
| daeмon » Luengar
· Evidently, Luengar is near settling to his final form. His changes are far less frequent than they once were, and he favors the shape of a large Black-footed Ferret. This shape represents independence and solitude as well as a secretive, cryptic and enigmatic nature. It also stands for a sort of 'seeker' - one who aspires to achieve more and move onward and forward. His other shapes are largely determined by Leina's mood - which can be quite dynamic. The most common ones are: cat, cougar and falcon.
Luengar stands as Leina's voice of reason, calm and balance. Like his other half, Luengar is highly observant and attentive. Much of Leina's perception is attributed to her daemon: he senses and notices things she does not, and is adept at reading other daemons. While Leina has a tendency to be ruled by passion, Luengar is solely compelled by iron logic and reasoning, and often urges Leina to look at a situation differently, focus, and is her voice of practicality.
Cold and impassive in demeanor, Luengar distances himself from others like Leina, but is far more straight-forward and direct in his address. Pragmatic and stern, Luengar possesses a steely hardness in nature that Leina simply lacks. Clever and cunning, Luengar is an expert at making connections and drawing conclusions, and is also far more skilled at and willing to be deceitful than Leina. Another aspect of character Luengar has that Leina doesn't is selfishness. Often, he encourages her to take more for herself, that she is more important and to think for herself before others. However, alternately, and rather ironically, he is also the one with the clearest set of morals among the two, and can always tell her the lines of what is right and what is crossing into wrong.
He can also be her kernel of hope when lost in pessimism, a motivator, guide and support. Though he can appear aloof, stiffly formal and polite and even somewhat uncaring, he actually cares deeply for his counterpart and they share a strong bond.
| нιѕтory »
· Leina was born to the matron of the manor. She never knew her father, as her mother refused to speak of him, and he never made his appearance. She spent most of her early childhood roaming the streets just outside the manor and playing with the estate owner's youngest son, Emil, who was a year older than her. They became close friends, and later, when she began her maid duties, the bond remained. As they grew up, at her urging, he secretly taught her how to read and write, and basic arithmetic. It was nothing refined or particularly literate, obviously, but Leina learned, and he shared a few of his books with her. Later, when her rebellious responses to the servile duties put her into a cleaner's rank, she had fewer opportunities to interact with him, but it did occasionally give her access to the Master's vast library for cleaning, an opportunity that Leina cherished like none other. It seldom came, but she treasured it enormously and usually filched a few books from it - as many as she could stuff in her dress without arousing suspicion - to pore over in the sparse hours of the night.
The Gobblers caught her when she was outside the estate boundaries, sweeping the street in front of the garden as she'd been asked to by the Master, enticing her into their grasp with an underhanded trick and then seizing her daemon, rendering her helpless, before transporting them both to the facility. At the time, Luengar was still changing regularly - it was only after suffering all the hardship of their capture and new life at the facility that he started to slow down as she began to mature. She stayed at the facility for several months before she was able to make a lucky break along with the other children that managed to escape.
[ I'm keeping her history a bit vague for more development later. I might refine this later on depending on how things go. ]
