So i walked into a local store today with Tinker on one shoulder and Phantom on the other. The manager went to tell me to get out and than stopped as both my girls climbed down my arms and went in my pocket. The manager laughed and than asked to meet them, so i pulled them out again and the moment she held Phantom in her hand she fell in love! She told me that i was welcome to bring them in when ever i want to! =D she said that they were sweet and that because of me she was gonna read about rats and possibly get a couple!

The constant posts about giving your rats away - if you bring them home, you are their owner, you should be the one who offers them a forever home. Your old and aggressive girl - maybe try work out WHY she was biting you. She's old too, why not just work around it and let her live out her last days/weeks/months? Instead, you get her put down!?! There is no reason for that at all. Then you rehome a girl, by herself. Going with other rats or not, why would you take one girl and just send her to someone else without considering her, or introducing her to any of your other rats.

Your carefree attitude about babies... don't care if these ones die the girls are pregnant again anyway!? Leaving the male in, not caring that he could kill the babies, or even the mums? That doesn't matter to you at all?

Sorry, but these posts actually disgust me. You just give them away to get new homes, rehome your other animals (birds was it?) and go on without a care in the world. Like I said, when you become their owner, you should be their forever home!

. . .

The birds I HAD to let go of because I ended up being allergic to them and not having enough TIME for them. That was NOT my fault, and they went to a very close friend whom is a mere twenty minutes away, and has more time for them than I did DUE to my allergies to them and general health problems.

I've found leaving a male with my female mice while they have pups decreases their stress for some reason. My pups are healthy, happy, and Pants even grooms them himself - the pups even try nursing from him. He's more protective over them than the mothers are.

Sadie had health issues, and overall she was attacking all of my other girls, no matter who I put her with. I gave her months, and risked my healthy happy girls to serious injuries.

Sally was not bonded to my girls. I gave her to my friend, that has her legit SISTER and more Experience with shy/aggressive rats so I figured it wouldn't be too bad and they're already both happier being back together.

Sheesh is going home with my friend when she comes to pick up her pups out of Syria's litter, she was bought FOR my friend and is not technically mine.

Just because I rehome my pets doesn't mean I'm a bad person. I mean really, if it doesn't work and it's for the better of the pet, why keep them if they'll end up suffering or being unhappy with me?

Sadie has been showing aggression since I got her, but up until a few months ago she has gotten so bad I had to take her out just so she'd eat because she'd attack the other girls for even going near the food bowl. She was a petco rat, bad genes and all and I knew it, was stupid and took her. She lived a long, HAPPY life with me while I DID have her instead of being snake food as a pup.

As I said in my last post about the mice, I am getting another tank so that I CAN seperate my males from my females. At this very point in time cages are hectic and I won't have my new cages for two more days. I can't just seperate my females from this male right now, I'm pretty sure they'd have a fit like last time I took him out. They refused to eat, or drink. They're bonded to him. I don't know if neutering a male mouse is an option, but if it is that's what I'll be doing with him. Only if it's safe.

I am very careful with my rat pups. VERY careful. I socialize them as much as possible, give them what they need and Syria what SHE needs as well. Tomorrow will be the official 'weaning' day for them. They've already stopped nursing but whatever, guess they decided to do it on their own. I think only Kurt still nurses, but he's a little piggy among them all and shoves 3-4 pieces of food in his mouth before going to his special corner and eating each piece.

I have my reasons for rehoming my rats. I don't think I'm a bad person. and I DEFINITELY had a reason for rehoming my two ringneck parrots. I'm sorry but if I can't be near them, why have them? They needed attention. and I wasn't able to give it. If I would have known, I would not have gotten them to begin with - but they both lived a happy year and a half with me none the less and now have their forever home with Kam and her boyfriend. I still have my two cockatiels, but mom takes care of them and I am not close to them other than some loving here and there.

Get to know me before you JUDGE me. I do what I feel is right for my pets, they're more than just that they're family. Just because I don't do things your way, doesn't mean I am any less careful with my darlings than you would be. I have given Sadie a chance, and I HAVE given Sally a chance. She just plain was not happy.

Have you ever had a rat?: :3 No, but I really want to. It's just it'll probably be scared by my cats, and my cats have killed rats before.

Can I ask how Sally wasn't happy, and what makes you think she'll be any happier moving and then being put with her sister? Just because it's her "legit sister", that doesn't really make any difference.

What health issues did Sadie have? What treatment has she been getting?

Ok. x3

I have something to do with rats to say, but I don't want to say it because it upsets me, therefore I expect other people in this club to be upset aswell...

To say or not to say, that is the question.

Well, usually avoid joining clubs since when I do I end up not having anything to say but that doesn't seem to be the case here and since I keep hanging around anyway may as well actually put in a form, y'know? :\

Have you ever had a rat?: Have one right now(my first, actually, but plan on having more someday when not living with such an obnoxious landlord)she's named Tulio, after one of the twerps from an Eldorado cartoon. I have a habit of trying to confuse people with her gender(sometimes their reactions are pretty funny) but avoiding a pointless joke in this case, it's a she. She's a grey hooded. She loves it when you pet her cheeks and usually only bites if you have tape on your skin or if you try to touch her while she's sleeping(she kind of panics when woken up). She's a silly lap-rat and a bit of a wisecrack sometimes. :T
