"That's a problem," Mei said, thinking, "every human needs to sleep . . even you. Maybe you should get one of your guards to watch over you? Make sure if anything seems, well, not right, they can wake you . . . "

"I'm not quite human." He looked up at her face, "sorry." He thought about things to do, live deep in the forest, dester or even seal himself in a vault...

[Stray Dog]

"Gaara . . . " Mei said quietly. They were both probably feeling torn up inside and neither of them could help it. Mei needed friends, just like a wolf needs it's pack. And having Gaara around made life a little more bearable . . . . "Look, we can fix this," Mei said, "I don;t know how, but we can. You are the great leader to this village and they need you. You are the pack's protector, so they also need you. And you're my best friend, I need you too!"

[Daft Deception]

"Thanks" he looked into her blue eyes, "I won't find a way to get rid of Shukaku, but I will push him into the back of my head for as long as I can bear it, but that's all I can promise"

"Agreed," Mei said, nodding, "Now, how are your hands? Do they feel any better?" Mei studied the bandages, hoping they weren't too tight.

"My hands feel fine." He lied smoothlym

[Stray Dog]

"Gaara, I have known you for years, so don't bother lieing," Mei said, smiling weakly, "Is there anything you want to take your mind off the pain? I could get some food, um, I could give you a teddy to hug . . . " Mei laughed quietly, trying to lighten the mood.

Gaara smiled, "the pain helps." he said tapping his finger to his temple, "thanks for the suggestions though."

[Stray Dog]

"He, you're welcome," Mei answered, collapsing onto her bed, lieing on her back with her head resting on her hands. "So, tired yet?" Mei asked, staring up at the ceiling, "I know I won't be able to sleep tonight . . .guess I'll just paint some more."

"No not really, I still have a ton of adrenaline coursing through me, enough to keep me up for another week." He smirked
