nothing is the same except for the basic plot and some of the characters and soe of the relationships hte characters have with other characters.

and yes, How to Train Your Dragon was based off a book. They actually explain why they took the liberties they did if you watch the film maker's commentary portion of the DVD.

@CS Wolf: there's a pretty huge difference between the two; For example the original Toothless was actually small like a Terrible Terror. The whole point of the story was the relationship between Hiccup and his father, and I think Dreamworks did a really nice job keeping true to that aspect of it.

When you join a wolf roleplay with an alpha female. Then everyone makes males and they all have a crush on her. When that happens you cannot get any decent roleplaying done, because everyone well every male wolf is constantly trying to impress her. Or fighting over her. While your trying to 'hunt' or do something useful. They are like "OHMAIGASH I love you so much!" or "I've loved you since we were pups." Yeah whatever.
