Those people could have looked around to see if the rare(s) they wanted to trade for was one of the more common rares ^^; (the easter '12 used-to-be rares being a major example; there were so many of 'em floating around, yet a bunch of 'em were marked as 'rare')
And everyone's allowed to be mad at something, technically; there's no one stopping anyone from feeling emotions xD but if one is mad at certain things (such as, the most common example here, "my rare turned uncommon :U") then it makes them irrational or some other not-too-pleasant adjective ^^;

Of course! The only thing this really changed here is the accuracy of the rarity tags. Pets won't necessarily be easier to get, but now everyone has a better idea of the pet's value. Years and demand still play a big part in trading (:

your answers:
Orchid Sprig wrote:I think dates don't matter is a bit of an overstep. I think they just matter less. Now a January 2012 can be traded for a July 2012. Before it was seen as totally unfair due to what people called the 'three month rule'. If they were more than 3 months apart, it wasn't a fair swap. It will make trading within the same year easier. A lot of people wouldn't trade a January 2011 for a December 2011. Now they are closer to fair since they are rated equally. I still wouldn't trade my January 2010 for a December 2011. Age will still matter because of two main things. One is because just like the last system, each rarity has wiggle room. One Very Rare is not exactly as rare as another Very Rare. Also, the older they are, the more likely they are in 'forever homes'. At least that is my take on this ^^'

Say a rat from 2010 and a rat from 2012 have the same rarity bar and the same demand. Let's also say that there are only around 6000 of each of them on this site (meaning their numbers are the same as well). How much does date value actually go into deciding whether it's fair or not?
If there are about 6000 of each
within the active trading population then they should be reasonably similar in value. The disparity comes due to the fact that if a pet is older, chances are that some of the people holding onto it aren't playing anymore. Or everyone who wants it already has one as part of their permanent collection and isn't willing to trade it anymore, since the new pets move around a lot more than old pets. This also makes it harder to trade for, so the perceived trading value could be higher.
So dates are still important.
