Ember twitched his ears and listened to the man.

Dain walked out to the street, the rain last night had washed away and trail Ember might have left...

Friesia followed, hoping Ember wasn't hurt.

The man kept talking. "Nah, we take good care of our animals. The pound is actually a nice place... But that's not where we're going."

Ember tilted his head and looked at the man.

Dain searched best he could, but the city was a big place...

"Nope, you see, I've kinda been wantin' a little dog of my own... O'course, you're not little, but you get the idea." The man pulled into a driveway and parked.

Friesia helped Dain look, but Ember was nowhere to be found.

Ember wagged his tail slightly.

Dainhad given up. "He's not here..."

Friesia bit her lip, her eyes filling with tears. "B-b-but he's g-got to be!" She wrung her tail worriedly.

The man opened the back door so Ember could get out.

Ember kind of flopped out the back of the truck and shook himself down.

Dain looked at her. "I don't know where else he'll be..."

The man chuckled a bit. "Come on, let's get inside."

Friesia looked down. "I don't either..." Her voice was barely audible.

Ember wagged his tail and followed the man inside.

Dain hugged her softly. "We'll find him..."

The man lived alone in an average sized house, with enough room for himself and the rare guest. "Well, boy, what do you think?" he asked with a smile, clearly proud of his abode.

Friesia looked up at Dain. "I certainly hope so."
