What is a Great Plains Equine?:
GPE are special horses that are capable of being born with any type of marking of any type of horse or equine. Including zebra stripes and other random seeming markings. They come in nothing but natural colors, though it's possible to have a mixed coat. Such as a strawberry roan with white zebra stripes. At rare times, a unicorn or a pegasus appears. And even more rare, a alicorn. They seem to have nothing else special about them, other than the fact that they have no real breed, such as a standard bred. They range between 13-15 hands, making them rather large horses. The largest they can be is 20 hands, though the most common is no larger than 15.
What is The Great Plains?:
The Great Plains is a wildlife reserve. But most importantly, it is the only place where these equines can be found. It spans across at it's widest point at around 100 miles, making it a perfect place for many horses to gather and graze. It's lush is grasses and other foliage, as well as a special flower that they love to eat. They seek it out as a special treat, known locally as the nightingale lily.
Behavior and herds:
A herd is normally formed of around 3-50 equines, mainly made up of mares and their foals. Once a colt grows to 2 years of age, he is then chased off by the herd's lead stallion. These young stallions band together creating bachelor herds. They are wild horses, but aren't as timid as normal. They have grown used to humans, but are far from tame. To help control the wild population, people are allowed to come in a catch a young mare or stallion.
How to adopt:
Find a GPE with and "Adopt me" sign and click it's image. Follow the instructions on it's page to adopt it. Most will be a first to fill out the form wins. Some will be auctions. Some will be stories on how you met/acquired it.
