((Because, since this seems to be a stereotypical Medieval type world, I assumed that there wouldn't exactly be equal rights for women and men, therefore a female traveling alone could be in danger, especially at night. The city isn't particularly dangerous--it's the time period, not the place.
To elaborate on that, helping a young girl who is alone at night is just something you either do or don't do. It's instinct and didn't take any thought on Marcel's part. It's like if you need to go to the bathroom, you don't think about why you need to, you just either hold it, or go. I don't think that's really necessary to explain in my writing.))

She stood up and glared into the night sky. Oh no! she panicked Iv'e been asleep to long! She hurriedly started talking to the boy. "um, i....i..i have to go."
She headed off.
