I remember my grandpa got me a chess set when I was like 9, and then after I opened it, got excited, and thanked him, the next day he told me it was a mistake and it was for my cousin Johnny, who was only like five at the time. (What would he do with a chess set?) Anyways, the worst part was, my grandpa didn't bother getting me a present at all but got my cousin two presents, the chess set and some computer game.
I still can't believe he unabashedly demanded a stupid chess set from a 9 year old for a kid who already got a present.

the worse thing i got was nothing. my family didnt have money at the time we were really close to being homeless. my dad was so ashamed of not being able to give hes daughters anything for their birthdays that he didnt even tell us happy birthday and wasnt home that whole day. for both my bday in august and my sisters in july. we didnt blame him becuase we were both old enough to understand the situation but it was still kinda up setting to not even get a happy b-day from him. me and my sister made each other gifts. she made me a collage of childhood photos and i made her a painting in art class i was about 15 and she was 13 so it was odd being so old an make child like gifts but it was the thought that counts and still have the collage and she still has the painting.
