Chapter One

.....It had all started late one October day, when Wolfgang was running late from work and hadn't heard from Jakeob. Normally when he worked late, his finace would call, sounding worried. He'd then assure him that he was fine, that he'd simply been caught up with talking to a patient or his patient's owners. Today, however, he hadn't called, and Wolfgang himself was starting to get worried. It wasn't like Jakeob to not call. Was something wrong? He didn't want to interrupt his work, but what else was he to do? If something was wrong with him, he needed to know. He'd already tried calling Jakeob on his cellphone and the house phone, but he'd answered neither of them.

.....Deciding not to wait any longer, Wolfgang informed his secretary that he was leaving, and after taking one last check over his patients, set off down the highway towards his home.

.....Although he worked in New York City, he lived in the country of New York State, and it was quite a drive. Once he got off the bridge connecting Manhattan Island to New York, he still had na hour and a half to drive before he arrived home. If something was indeed wrong with Jakeob, the hospital was ninety miles in the opposite direction of their house. He was honestly almost praying at this point, his anxiety rising after every moment that passed by. As a veterinarian, he'd learned that every minute could mean the difference between life and death, and he knew that it was the same for humans.

.....Pulling in to the driveway, Wolfgang had to keep himself from jumping out of the car and running up to the front door. The last thing he wanted to do was make Jakeob aware of his anxiety issues that he'd kept quietly locked away ever since they'd met, back in high school. After fumbling with the lock for a few moments (his hands were trembling almost uncontrollably at this point), Wolfgang was finally able ot pry the door open and was promptly greeted by their five adopted huskies. They had gotten the dogs after much begging from Jakeob, who happened to love the breed. Getting five was a bit of an accident; the first dog, Ruby had a sister, Smile that they had to adopt with her, and then they got Fifty and his sister Camo, then finally Cera came along, and by that time they'd both gotten so attached that the couldn't bear to let any of the dogs go. At that moment in time, though, the dogs were not Wolfgang's main worry.

.....“Jakeob?” He called out, finally managing to get away from the curious dogs. “Jake?” He paused for a moment, waiting for an answer, before Jakeob's timid voice came from down the hallway.

.....“Wolfgang?”

His voice sounded strained, and Wolfgang felt his heart start racing again. Reminding himself to stay calm and not to panic, he walked down the hallway and into the bathroom, where Jakeob was sitting in front of the toilet. He had one hand tightly gripping the side of the bowl, and his other hand resting on his stomach. He looked very pale and sickly, and Wolfgang could guess what he could have been doing before he walked in, and why Jakeob didn't call. Kneeling beside him, Wolfgang gently rubbed Jakeob's back, letting the smaller man lean against him. He was definitely sick, Wolfgang could tell, but it didn't look like he was in any danger of sudden death.

....."What happened?" He finally asked after a few quiet moments of trying to get himself to relax. "Are you alright?"

....."I feel terrible," Jakeob replied, half-closing his pale green eyes. "Just...awful. This is the worst it's been since it started..." As soon as he said that, he looked as if he regretted it. Immediately, Wolfgang felt his anxiety returning, his grip on Jakeob's shoulder tightening a bit.

....."Since when what started?" Wolfgang brushed a few strands of pale orange-gold hair from Jakeob's neck to see if he had a fever. He flinched away from Wolfgang's touch at first, before keeping still to allow his fiance to touch him.

....."Me being sick. It started last week. I got sick maybe...once every day? I just haven't been feeling well." He subconsciously rubbed his stomach as another wave of nausea began to settle over him.

.....Feeling that he was running a slight fever, Wolfgang pulled his hand back. "Why didn't you tell me? You need to see a doctor, what if it's serious?" The other man was silent, shaking a little as he leaned over the toilet, sighing.

....."I-it's okay, I'm sure it's just a bug," he insisted quickly, before vomiting. Wolfgang rubbed his back again as he did so, before he finally pulled away from the toilet, breathing heavily, droplets of tears in the corners of his eyes. Wolfgang could tell that the repeated action had probably put him in a lot of pain. Jakeob was now shaking quite a bit more as he leaned up against Wolfgang, who ran his fingers through his soft locks of hair.

....."You're going to the doctor tomorrow. I'm off work, so I'll come with you. We can just go to the local walk-in in town." He noticed Jakeob relax a bit when he mentioned the walk-in. He'd had a fear of hospitals ever since he was little, so the thought of not having to go to one made him more open to going to a doctor.

....."As long as you go with me," Jakeob murmured, and Wolfgang smiled. Little did they know, this would be one of the last peaceful moments that the couple would have for quite some time.

Part Two (still in chapter one)

The first thing that Wolfgang noticed when he awoke was the lack of a body next to him. Smile was curled up at his feet, and fifty was splayed out awkwardly over him, but Jakeob was nowhere to be found. Giving a little groan, Wolfgang shifted, before pushing the husky off of him. Fifty gave a mixed noise, something like a whiny growl as he did. Ignoring him, Wolfgang got up, swinging his feet over the side of the bed, standing up and stretching. Normally, he would change out of his pajamas as soon as he woke up, but today, he was too worried about Jakeob. Going out into the living room, he found the T.V. on, the volume low, and Jakeob eating a bowl of cereal with strawberries at the table. Wolfgang couldn't help but give a little relieved sigh at this; Jakeob was at least following his normal morning schedule. That meant he had to be feeling at least a little better...right?

"Morning," he greeted, walking over to the coffee maker to heat up the water and find the coffee he wanted to drink for that morning.

"Good morning," Jakeob replied around a mouthful of cereal. His eyes were trained on the screen, watching the news eagerly. He always watched the news religiously, as though it was a sitcom or a soap opera. Wolfgang never understood why he liked it so much; to him, the news channel was a boring one that he'd drop if Jakeob didn't love it so much.

"You know we're leaving soon, right?" Wolfgang asked as he put the coffee into the coffee maker and waited for the pot to fill up. Sometimes, he really wished they had a Keurig.

"Not until after the news," Jakeob growled warningly, and Wolfgang couldn't help but smile. Maybe Jakeob would be alright after all.

After the news was over and Wolfgang had his coffee, it was time to leave. Although the walk-in was closer than the hospital, it was still a bit of a drive from their home, at least forty-five minutes. Even then, it would only be that way if traffic was in their favor. The drive felt much longer due to the awkward silence that was now between them. They weren't being silent because they wanted to, no, there just simply wasn't anything to talk about really. Jakeob didn't want to talk about his illness, and currently he was slumped down in the passenger seat with his knees on the dashboard, arms wrapped firmly around his stomach.

"Are you feeling alright?" Wolfgang asked, and Jakeob sighed.

"I'm not feeling sick, just self-conscious." Wolfgang rose an eyebrow in question, waiting for him to continue. "I've gained a few pounds."

"How?" Wolfgang asked curiously, and Jakeob shrugged. This situation was becoming stranger by the minute. There were so many inconsistencies...his brain was starting to go down one path, but Wolfgang shook it away. No, that was crazy, there was no way it could be like that.

Holly ------- Chamosia

"Star light star bright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight"

A breathless whisper ghosted across the silence of the night. All were asleep, while the mysteries of the night played out with no daylight-seeing eyes to revel in it's wonder. All, except for a little girl of no more than ten years, kneeling on her bed and gazing to the skies in awe at the North star that shone white and blue. The little girl's pale brown body was clothed in rainbow coloured pyjammas, her paws were splayed out in her windowsill to steady herself while her baby blue eyes stayed heavenward with her whispered poem. She was absolutely still; not even her curled tail wagged.

"I wish..." only then did she close her eyes tightly and clasped her paws as though in prayer, "I wish for a friend all of my own,"

She wished with all her might, wished with all of her soul. After long minutes of wishing she opened her eyes to look back up above her. But something was different. The star that was there was gone! Despair tugged at her heart until she heard a soft gentle female voice float from her garden.

"Holly...Holly, I am here... "

Holly looked down at the sound of her name. There, a female dog sat on the grass looking up at her with her long graceful tail waving back and forth ever so softly, even her fur seemed to ripple and move with a non-existant wind. Holly's baby blue eyes widened as she looked closer. The older female had this presence about her that was so utterly beautiful, so unearthly, that it seemed even the air around her glowed with mystery. Her fur was two shades of blue and white, and the dark eyes looking back at her were warm and full of life.

"W-Who are you? How do you know my name?" Holly asked with a hushed voice.

"You've been wishing on me for many nights Holly, and now I'll make your wish come true," the female replied, and even her voice seemed to echo as if from afar.

Holly's heart seemed to stop in surprise.

"Are you...The star?" the girl's voice was trembling with amazement.

"Yes Holly. My name is Chamosia, and I'm here to be your friend,"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image ------- Image

Birds chirping their ever-cheerful songs made Holly stir, and she groggily opened her eyes. She wasn’t even aware she had fallen asleep! She didn’t think she had at all, not after she saw…

Holly sprang up so fast her head spun for a moment as she remembered last night, before hurriedly looking out the window to the garden. There wasn’t any trace of evidence that there was another dog in the garden at all; everything looked just as it was. No wet pawprints on the paved slabs from the grass, no folded grass where the other female had sat perhaps only hours before.

Was it all a dream, created only by loneliness and desperation? Holly didn’t want to think so; it felt all too real to her.

“It was real…I know it was…” Holly told herself stubbornly.

Upon hearing her mother call her name from the kitchen downstairs, Holly jumped up and jogged down, the smell of mother-made toast and bacon made her empty stomach growl in hunger.

“Now Holly, go and get ready for school,” her mother told her, “hurry!”

“Yes Mama,” the little girl replied.

She hurried upstairs to get changed into her school clothes. She pulled her pyjamas off and put on a white polo shirt and grey skirt. But in the midst of getting ready, she noticed something rather peculiar on her shoulder; a mark that wasn’t there before. She took a step closer to the mirror and pulled up the polo shirt’s sleeve to make sure she wasn’t seeing things.

Alas, it was still there, and upon closer inspection she saw it clearer than ever. There were two diamond shaped marks on her left shoulder, one white and one blue.

“Huh?” she whispered, “where did this come from? Is it from my colouring pens?”

Her pale brown paw touched them, and suddenly a voice echoed in her head:

“You've been wishing on me for many nights Holly, and now I'll make your wish come true,”

Her baby blue eyes looked up from the marks to her own reflected face that couldn’t hide her surprise. The voice again echoed through her mind:

“I'm here to be your friend,”

“…Chamois?” her eyes lit up and a grin so wide spread across her face, “I knew you were real!”

It is great, though :3

That'll be covered in a few chapters. The title "The Mystery Child" is basically saying that it's a mystery up until a certain point. I have an idea in my head, but I'm not telling~

Image Tay x Bandit Image
even the best can go bad

Tay covered her ears and dug her head into her golden-laced canopy bed, trying to block out the screeching of her furious parents. It was like knives poking her ears, and she couldn't stand it. No matter how much she yelled, how much she tried to get her parents to stop fighting with each other, they wouldn't. They aren't making these decisions for the good of their daughter. They're making the decisions for their own welfare.
She couldn't stand it. It has been going on for so long, for so long Tay had tolerate it. Not anymore. Hauling herself up from her bed, she yanked the rope she stole from the stables and tied it to her bedpost, a knot she herself invented that was nearly undoable. Tossing the rope out of her only window, Tay inched herself down the castle wall, her palms burning and sweating, threatening to give up at any second. Her mind was adamant; she was escaping, not running away. She'd be back in a little while.
Maybe.
As her feet finally met the soft earth, Tay felt like kissing the ground. Her room wasn't that far up from wear the grass grew, but it was still enough to make her feel queasy. With no regrets, Tay laughed and ran towards the village, adrenaline flowing through her veins as though an angel released her from her misery.

It was nearly midnight. The criminal squinted at the bakery through his green eyes, a smirked peaking out from his bandana. A sharp pain in his stomach caused him to nearly double over, but he sucked it up and crept across the road, making as much noise as an owl hunting for prey. Suddenly, with a sickening crash, the weak wooden door crashed down from his weight as he grabbed whatever food was closest to him and burst the opposite direction, everything a blur. He couldn't see where he was going, he was scared, he was hungry..
Something small stopped him in his tracks and he crashed into it, stubbed his toe on the pavement and falling to the ground. His heart was beating so fast, he couldn't make out who and what he crashed into. Now he'd have to spend the rest of his life in prison for sure.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you..."

The boy looked up to see a young girl, somewhere around his age. Squinting with a disapproving smile, he asked, "Who are you?"
The girl looked surprised for a moment, getting on her knees and meekly swiping the dirt off of her gown.

"M-my name is Taylor."
"Why do you look so fancy?"
"I don't know know.
Silence.
"What's your name?"
The boy flinched, startled by her question. His name? He bit lip, thinking for a moment.
"Bandit. I'm Bandit."
Bandit sounded good. Dangerous, just like he was.

"It's nice to me you, Bandit."

I might continue if people like it, I love this pair<3

MODS: I will rarely be on, but when I am on, I have to use Miku_Cat/Fon Master Miku's comp, since mine gets viruses from CS. Please do not ban either of us! D: Miku is an important friend of mine and she wouldn't deserve to be banned. I swear, we aren't using the same account.
