1. What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply)
I registered on February 01, 2009.
2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
I've posted 11309 times. This should be my 11310th post. :3
3. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I'm generally online every single day. It is rare that I will not be online at all. The only case that I would not be online is if I go on a vacation with no internet or cell service. Now that I have a 4G phone and a data plan, I can be online even more when I'm not home.
4. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
There are definately days that I spend the majority of my time sitting at the computer with Chicken Smoothie open. Aside from eating and other necessary human functions like stretching and speaking, I can very easily spend from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed logged on. Any time spent on the computer, I have a CS tab open so I can quickly go and check my bookmarks, messages, and trades.
When school picks up again, my time online will be limited. However, I will still be online after homework is finished until I go to bed. This can range from 2 to 6 hours on weekdays. Weekends and school breaks fall under the "chilled out summer schedule, online constantly" category.
5. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation? Do you consider yourself a trade-value expert? Do you already answer a lot of questions in the forum? Do you know how all the tools/options in the oekaki work?)
I've had a peer mediator position for a few years in school. My role as a mediator ranged from helping kindergarteners decide who's turn it was on the swing set to helping referee and solve problems during unofficial, recess sports for ages between first and sixth grades.
I have volunteered to tutor floutists in the younger bands and have also played with them in their concerts from time to time. Also, I've been in leadership positions like drum major in middle school band and currently am section leader for the high school's flute section. Through this, my "people skills" and leadership skills have evolved and improved. I have learned how to communicate much better, explain things, and work out minor problems when it comes to the rough edges on relationships.
I have actually taken part in the fun acts of "adopting" a freshman or two as the start of school comes around. While it isn't an official program, it still is a joy to take them under your wing and show them around the school. As band camp starts a few wees prior to actual school, I am able to get to know many younger students and help them make the transformation when the time comes.
I am not too proud to ask for help and I will not hesitate to ask someone with more experiance or of a higher power to provide assistance.
Because I've been a member on this site for so long, I am confident in my trading skills. While I admit that there is still some things for me to learn, who can state otherwise about themselves?
I do not often hang around the help board, as there are so many other helpful users providing insight. If I were to post on every question I see, I'd simply spam up the thread since it has already been answered well by another member. However, I always try to make myself as approachable as possible. I invite newer users that I meet to feel free and comfortable asking me any questions they may have.
I have used the oekaki quite often and have gotten a feel for about the entire program. I am able to explain the problem on this site.
Also on this site, I have started and run a few very successful roleplays, run my own adoptables, and offer comments and critique on the 'Artist Army' when I can and on different oekaki pictures.
I am a huge rule-follower, so when I see something written once, I will remember it so I do not break it in the future. Becuase of this, I am able to help keep the threads that I run or help out in clean and friendly.
I have threads like the 'Rare's List', 'Need Help Pricing Artwork', and Atwoods 'Guide to Official Dog Names' bookmarked for easy and convenient storage.
I do not understand coding, but do have a good, basic understanding of the coding in our CS posts.
6. Why do you want to be a General Helper?
In short... I just want to help out and let Chicken Smoothie thrive.
For new players, I want them to be welcomed warmly and let them feel comfortable with the community. Anything that I can do to help others is something I want to take part in.
I'm in my school's band... both marching and concert band. I've become familiar and comfortable with the feeling of closeness and a well-oiled machine. As a section leader, I get a direct role in that. It would just be awesome if I can transfer these feelings onto this site in an even bigger way with people knowing that I am open and available to assist them. Yes. I know this is absolutely possible without the fancy, colored name and No. The recognition isn't the only thing that matters in this situation. However, the color of the General Helpers' name is like a giant, flashing sign that says:
"Hello! We are open! Please come in!"
And it allows for more people to understand that whoever they are PMing is more than willing to give them their time, attention, and help with whatever they need.
