Sam && Corey
Corey paused as he looked up at the shed. It was large, it's red paint had now faded to an unusal rain-water-brown colour. Perhaps once when it had just been painted a lovely bright red it had held horses or cows or something along those lines. Now of course there was no animals in it, unless you counted the semi-feral cats which came and went as they pleased.
He pushed open one of the heavy oak doors, his eyes took a moment to adjust to the little light. Taking in a deep breath of musky air he looked around. He could hear the heavy footsteps somewhere inside the barn but was unable to see there owner. There was a loud bang followed by a series of curses as Corey moved into the dim barn, the light coming in from the hayloft windows.
Something moved towards him, small and mouselike. With a started yowl Corey jumped up onto the work-top table which had been pushed, with much effort on his part, into the barn. As he panthed the sound of failing to stifle laughter filled his ears and he turned his green eyes to see Sam.
Sam had been his best friend for as long as he could remember, but Corey had a brain like a sive and could barely remember what he did two days ago. "Sam!" he hissed at the other boy who was struggling not to laugh as he fell back into the hay.
"Ya should see yourself!" the other boy hiccuped out at last, his reddish-brown hair falling into his face, covering his oddly coloured eyes.
Corey huffed and blew the his dirty-blond hair out of his eyes. "Well Sam," he started. You should see yourself."
The other boy pulled a puzzled face, "What daya mean?"
Sam had missed the other boy sitting up onto his heels, crouching until it was too late. Corey lunged, forceing them back into the hay. It took five minutes to recover from the laughinh fit which followed before Corey turned his head to look at Sam.
"What ya doing here anyways?" Sam asked, metting the green gaze.
"I can't come down and see my best friend?" Corey laughed.
"Depends if you keep knocking me into the hay, so whatdaya want?"
"No reason, same as usual. Keeping you company and trying to get you to come swimming instead of doing . . . whatever it is you happen to be doing."End of part one
{Really wanted to keep writing but thought this was a good place to end chapter one.

Georges Méliès: [voice over] I was always tinkering with machines. I had my own workshop at the theater, where I could invent new illusions. Once I even build a working automaton. Ah, he was a particular treasure. I had my heart sewn into him.---Hugo

Wolfgang xXx Jakeob

Chapter One.....It had all started late one October day, when Wolfgang was running late from work and hadn't heard from Jakeob. Normally when he worked late, his finace would call, sounding worried. He'd then assure him that he was fine, that he'd simply been caught up with talking to a patient or his patient's owners. Today, however, he hadn't called, and Wolfgang himself was starting to get worried. It wasn't like Jakeob to not call. Was something wrong? He didn't want to interrupt his work, but what else was he to do? If something was wrong with him, he needed to know. He'd already tried calling Jakeob on his cellphone and the house phone, but he'd answered neither of them.
.....Deciding not to wait any longer, Wolfgang informed his secretary that he was leaving, and after taking one last check over his patients, set off down the highway towards his home.
.....Although he worked in New York City, he lived in the country of New York State, and it was quite a drive. Once he got off the bridge connecting Manhattan Island to New York, he still had na hour and a half to drive before he arrived home. If something was indeed wrong with Jakeob, the hospital was ninety miles in the opposite direction of their house. He was honestly almost praying at this point, his anxiety rising after every moment that passed by. As a veterinarian, he'd learned that every minute could mean the difference between life and death, and he knew that it was the same for humans.
.....Pulling in to the driveway, Wolfgang had to keep himself from jumping out of the car and running up to the front door. The last thing he wanted to do was make Jakeob aware of his anxiety issues that he'd kept quietly locked away ever since they'd met, back in high school. After fumbling with the lock for a few moments (his hands were trembling almost uncontrollably at this point), Wolfgang was finally able ot pry the door open and was promptly greeted by their five adopted huskies. They had gotten the dogs after much begging from Jakeob, who happened to love the breed. Getting five was a bit of an accident; the first dog, Ruby had a sister, Smile that they had to adopt with her, and then they got Fifty and his sister Camo, then finally Cera came along, and by that time they'd both gotten so attached that the couldn't bear to let any of the dogs go. At that moment in time, though, the dogs were not Wolfgang's main worry.
.....“Jakeob?” He called out, finally managing to get away from the curious dogs. “Jake?” He paused for a moment, waiting for an answer, before Jakeob's timid voice came from down the hallway.
.....“Wolfgang?”
His voice sounded strained, and Wolfgang felt his heart start racing again. Reminding himself to stay calm and not to panic, he walked down the hallway and into the bathroom, where Jakeob was sitting in front of the toilet. He had one hand tightly gripping the side of the bowl, and his other hand resting on his stomach. He looked very pale and sickly, and Wolfgang could guess what he could have been doing before he walked in, and why Jakeob didn't call. Kneeling beside him, Wolfgang gently rubbed Jakeob's back, letting the smaller man lean against him. He was definitely sick, Wolfgang could tell, but it didn't look like he was in any danger of sudden death.
....."What happened?" He finally asked after a few quiet moments of trying to get himself to relax. "Are you alright?"
....."I feel terrible," Jakeob replied, half-closing his pale green eyes. "Just...awful. This is the worst it's been since it started..." As soon as he said that, he looked as if he regretted it. Immediately, Wolfgang felt his anxiety returning, his grip on Jakeob's shoulder tightening a bit.
....."Since when what started?" Wolfgang brushed a few strands of pale orange-gold hair from Jakeob's neck to see if he had a fever. He flinched away from Wolfgang's touch at first, before keeping still to allow his fiance to touch him.
....."Me being sick. It started last week. I got sick maybe...once every day? I just haven't been feeling well." He subconsciously rubbed his stomach as another wave of nausea began to settle over him.
.....Feeling that he was running a slight fever, Wolfgang pulled his hand back. "Why didn't you tell me? You need to see a doctor, what if it's serious?" The other man was silent, shaking a little as he leaned over the toilet, sighing.
....."I-it's okay, I'm sure it's just a bug," he insisted quickly, before vomiting. Wolfgang rubbed his back again as he did so, before he finally pulled away from the toilet, breathing heavily, droplets of tears in the corners of his eyes. Wolfgang could tell that the repeated action had probably put him in a lot of pain. Jakeob was now shaking quite a bit more as he leaned up against Wolfgang, who ran his fingers through his soft locks of hair.
....."You're going to the doctor tomorrow. I'm off work, so I'll come with you. We can just go to the local walk-in in town." He noticed Jakeob relax a bit when he mentioned the walk-in. He'd had a fear of hospitals ever since he was little, so the thought of not having to go to one made him more open to going to a doctor.
....."As long as you go with me," Jakeob murmured, and Wolfgang smiled. Little did they know, this would be one of the last peaceful moments that the couple would have for quite some time.Sorry it's so short, but this is the end of the chapter. I toned down the text color a bit because it was starting to blind me x.x
