Northstar was in her den, grooming moss out of her fur. Things had calmed down once again, though that's when disasters tended to strike. Bless had completely disappeared, and both Heatherfur and WolfClan's leader weren't scared to leave camp.
Things had been wierd between her and Ozzy recently. She didn't know why, she just knew things were awkward betweem them, and he tened to try and get away from Northstar as soon as he could. He had become a good friend, and she was always asking herself if she did something wrong.
Northstar didn't let it bother her for too long. She had bigger problems then her relationship with one cat.
"Hey Northstar!" She looked up an saw Birdsong.
"What's wrong?" The leader asked, standing up.
"It's Larkpaw again, she's caught in the vines," The she-cat reported.
"Show me where," Northstar ordered. Her deputy nodded, turning to run out of camp.
Larkpaw was always eager to chase prey up trees and follow them. Most of the time, she ended up getting tangled in the vines and falling off her perch, leaving her tangling above the forest floor. As they got closer, Northstar could hear her daughter screeching for help, while Snaketalon and Cactuspelt tried to calm her down. All the cats agreed that Northstar should try to be the one who gets her down since she's had way more experience back from ArcticClan's old territory.
The two she-cats pushed into a clearing and found the young she-cat dangling by her back legs, upside down. Snaketalon, who was standing below Larkpaw along with Cactuspelt, turned when she heard Birdsong and Northstar approach. "Finally, you're here. She's been yowling the whole time,"
"She's definitely going to need to see Heatherfur after this one," Birdsong added, padding over to join the warriors.
"I'll try and pull her up, but be ready to catch her in case I drop her," Northstar ordered.
"What! Drop me!" Larkpaw exclaimed.
Northstar didn't respond, she just leaped up the trunk to reach the branch where she was stuck. She carefully tip-toed down the branch to the vines that held Larkpaw up. She bit the vines, putting her paws on either side of it. She sunk her claws in the vines as it snaped, but it was no use. The broken vines slipped through her paws, and an image of her daughter's broken body flashed across her vision.
She blindly swiped her claws below her, but by the time she realized what had happened, Larkpaw was safe on the ground. Northstar scrambled down the tree and shoved Snaketalon and Birdsong aside so she could get to her daughter. "Are you ok?"
"No," Larkpaw murmured. "My throat hurts and feels like my legs were almsot pulled off."
"Don't worry Northstar," Cactuspelt meowed. "Her legs are just sore I think, I don't think they were hurt to badly."
"That's for Heatherfur to decide," Northstar spat back, standing by her daughter's side so she could lean on her shoulder. The silver tabby led the way back to camp, though it was a slow process with Larkpaw limbing. Birdsong ran ahead to alert Heatherfur and Cinderpaw.
Once they reached camp, Larkpaw was swept away by the medicine cat and her apprentice. Northstar looked after them while the rest of the Clan started getting back to what they were doing.
"Hey Northstar." She turned around, and was surprised to see Ozzy. "I was hoping we could talk, alone," he added quickly.
"Um, sure," She replied. "We could go out to the rocks."
Northstar had let Ozzy lead the way. He was sitting infront of her, his back to the rock wall. She sat sat down infront of him, awkwardly wrapping her tail around her paws.
"I've been meaning to talk to you for a while now," He meowed.
"What is it?" Northstar asked.
"Well I...I well...I kind of, like you," Ozzy whispered.
"Wait, what?"
"I love you, Northstar," He repeated.
"But what about Angel?" Northstar asked, slowly standing up.
"She was always so mean! You aren't mean, but I thought-"
Northstar didn't hear the rest. She had turned tail and was running straight back to camp. I liked it better when it was awkward for no reason!
