Why Do People Start Thread Wars?

Postby omori » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:29 am

I just really don't get it.

One person starts a thread about something they like. No biggie. Not doing anything wrong, right? Well, here comes the trolls. They start to make comments about how they hate the topic sooo much. Then someone tells them to leave. And THEN, they decide to open an entire new thread about the SAME topic, but it instead is about, "Does anyone hate (blah blah)?"

Why do they start this up? I don't get it. Why do you have to open up a hate thread? Can't you just state your opinion, and if it's offensive, leave? Why do you have to drag it on so long? Why do you want to cause an arguement and trouble? Can't you just nicely state your opinion on the first thread and be done? Why does it even matter?

I don't have anything personal against people who do this. Not much, anyways. But why can't you just say what you think and leave? Do you really have to create a hate-fest over one little topic that probably (it could, but probably) doesn't even matter?

I understand that they're stating their opinion, but really! Some people act as if they don't know what rationality is.

-gasp-

Ok, sorry.. This has just really been bugging me.

I would think its because this site has a high concentration of children, and as we know, children have a tendency to be irrational and convinced they their opinion is the right one.
I'm sure they'll grow up eventually.

Agreed. What's the point of asking

'Does anyone not like Twilight?'
'Does anyone not like Justin Bieber'
etc.

Obviously there will always be people who hate most anything and really these threads are just excuses for people to blow up

And another sweeping generalization comes to a thread..
I have to disagree with you Katalei. But on the subject on the topic Kitty is asking for, have you ever heard of the term 'For teh lulz'?
That, can answer many things. People just do it to have fun, or get a good laugh sometimes. Or either they just get pissed off because somebody disagrees with them.
And we all do it.

Well you have a point. I'll revise my statement:

Because in this age nobody is allowed to have an opinion. And as soon as you go againts them about something they will not stop till you agree with them.
Its just basic human problems. Quite stupid but it will never change.

That picture is epic.

What I hate is when people are "stating their opinion" When they are just yelling there is a huge differnce.

My opinion...
We are all guilty of disagreeing with someone, wanting are opinions to be heard and acknowledge.
It seems to be common with young people and teens >.> but adults have their moments were all human.
Making a new thread JUST to bash something or someone is something I cant stand (wish people were more open minded on ideas and topics) at least be thinking of others feelings would be an improvement.
use &noitems.jpg were the &trans=1.jpg is in the code

"Hmm, now, why does THIS sound familure..?
"And for the toss-in, the 'trolls' here might have been tortured a bit themselves like that before going in to a topic. What if the trolls here aren't actually children, but teens just like yourself trying to state their opinion and wanting others to see it through their eyes for a moment but the others refuse to do so and argue back? What if the trolls here are just a little confused and don't mean to do what they do? Have you thought of that, meha? Think about the poor trolls too, will ya?"
"Thread Wars are also kinda fun!" :D

What do you mean that it sounds familiar? This topic was made way before you posted your topic that was dissing the mods.
There's nothing wrong with stating an opinion. But there's no reason to start an entire new thread for the haters of the same topic. That's the complete point of that rant..
How can you not mean to start up a new thread about hate? Hmm? That's highly illogical. I can understand making a post about their opinion and not realizing that it was offensive to some people, but to start a thread is completely on purpose. They try to push the other people's buttons.
Yes, I have thought about that, thank you very much.
And no, thread wars are not fun. They're completely childish and unecassary, and just more trouble for the mods to have to take care of.
