Xavier & Elise
He was standing on the high precipice looking out over the city and the field that separated it from his castle when he saw someone coming up the path to his grand home. Xavier sneered, the last three messengers that the king had sent were turned into mice before fleeing to the dungeons. Xavier stepped off the tower and slowly drifted through the air until he landed softly and silently on the dirt path.
She was struggling just to stay on her feet as she stumbled up the path. It didn't matter where she was going, it only mattered that she got away. Elise had only been walking for a day but she felt like she had been walking for a week because of the condition she was in when she left. Her life had been perfect, she had everything one could ever want, before he came back.
Xavier was wondering what the message would be this time. Most likely, it would be the king asking him to swear his loyalty once again, something Xavier would never do. In the distance the cloaked figure collapsed. “That's rather odd” Xavier said to himself. When he came upon the collapsed form he keeled down and pulled the hood of the mysterious persons head and gasped, it wasn't one of the king's messengers after all. He looked down at the girl's face, she looked like she was about nineteen. Xavier was about to turn and leave when the young woman woke. “Please help me I can't go any farther but if I stop he will surely find me” then she slipped back into unconsciousness. Xavier sighed, for some reason he felt compelled to help her even though he had promised himself he would never offer kindness to another because of what happened all those years ago.
She woke to see a young man standing in the path in front of her, he looked about her age. She had to say something, she had to get his help. Elise couldn't manage but one small sentence “Please help me I can't go any farther but if I stop he will surely find me.” Then Elise felt herself slipping back into unconsciousness. The last thing she saw was the young man coming towards her.
He couldn't do it, Xavier knew that for some odd reason he couldn't leave her here in the middle of the road. So Xavier knelt down and scooped her up in his arms. As he was carrying her back to his castle he wondered why he had felt so strongly about saving her. She was not unlike every other woman in the village, but something told him he had to help.More?
