Sorry if it's a stupid question, or if you already have answered it.. :<

Couple quotes for you guys asking about dates. Keep in mind I am not supreme and almighty like Tess and Nick so my guesses are just as good as anyone else's, but dates do still matter.
Tess wrote:Of course it still takes a bit of knowledge and investigation to work out which pets are 'rarer' or more valuable/desirable than others, but that's always been the case. Newbies should be able to pick it up faster now, since their pets display a wider range of trade values, and aren't all uniformly "uncommon".
Hekomi wrote:Nemea wrote:Hekomi wrote:Dates will always matter, and as Vampy said a few posts up, litters will always have different rarities. It would be like, a year down the road, looking at a little now that has three outcomes:
Rare
Uncommon
Common
Three years down the road, they're now all Very Rare [keep in mind to get to OMGSR there is a HUGE gap/difference]
So just because now they're all VR does that mean they're equal to each other? No; because their starting rarities were completely different. Time has just "hidden" this from us. Hence why rarity knowledge, dates, and the rares list, play a key point.
But this doesn't make much sense wuth what Nick explained in teh first post.
I have understood it as Galapagos explained it better, that for example, a pet is labeled rare if it's number is somewhere between 600 and 700 (I am just making this number up for the example). This is is true for all pets, independet from their year. So there might be 650 SpiderwebButterflies, and also 650 Lynx Pps on active accounts on CS. Therefore, they are equally rare, independently from their years, and should be worth the same.
Okay, let me explain this better.
This is just an example; but lets say in order to be very rare there need to be between 200-1200 pets on the site to qualify for very rare status. The gap is VERY large.
So lets say there are 250 Spiderweb Butterflies
But there are 1000 Lynx PPS
They are both the same rarity, but have grossly different numbers.
The numbers aren't that close together. Rare and very rare have a HUGE range.

I love love love this Nick! I have been waiting for this to happen, and it was killing me wondering how you were going to do this. Then me and my friend stay up late, and see the maintenance sign thing, and she was freaking out. I on the other hand was like " dude! They might finally be fixing the rarities!" I was so happy even if it meant not being on cs for a while. So around 4 am our time, we go on and freak out. We see the new rarities, read this and then we go to august and see that you rate them when they grow up instead of until the middle of the next month, this made me ecstatic, I was so happy something had been done. We went to 2008, curious of what OMG SO RARE! looked like, we both got excited at the purpleness XD
now the only thing that would make chickensmoothie perfect in my eyes is to add what group a pet is from under it during trades O.o
I can finally trade without worry!!! Before I felt like I didn't want to trade often because of the way I new the system would change for the better. Now I am so happy. *happy dance!*
I love UMA's dearly! I am an artist for cozies, and I own Flosimos! Check them out~

I love that!
That is now my favorite rarity tag, because it's almost like having an OMG So Rare!
I agree! I love having my OMG so commons! <3

dear nick,
thank you so much for fixing this problem. it was really quite the pain in the arse. the rarity bars are quite helpful even though i'm still not quite used to them.
there's just one thing...
couldn't you have done this a week ago BEFORE I organized all my trades by rarity? now I have to go through all of them again. x.x
haha yeah. but seriously, great idea. ^^

This definitely helps, but I still have one question:
Say a rat from 2010 and a rat from 2012 have the same rarity bar and the same demand. Let's also say that there are only around 6000 of each of them on this site (meaning their numbers are the same as well). How much does date value actually go into deciding whether it's fair or not?
