I had to laugh, because taken out of context, this statement "Christmas is a good time to get Wyrms" (Christmas is a good time to get worms) is funny as heck! Likewise, the statement my hubby suggested putting on my sign at conventions. "Makes a great gift! Give your friends Wyrms!" made me giggle like mad. Or maybe that's the lack of sleep.... >~<
Anyway, I wanted to hop on and thank everyone for being patient! I am a new mom (baby is just turning 1 on August 22nd!) and between her, the conventions, and my Wyrm workload, I was feeling crunched. This break from breeding seasons gives me the chance to do a few things. Prep small clutches to post for new handlers, so they can get started in the game with a basic Wyrm, catch up on making new line art for new breeds, create a stockpile of wyrms and eggs for cons so I'm not so overwhelmed trying to prep, AND....best of all.....start the Wyrm Owners Compendium. Basically this will be a digital "book" to view online (and I will print up a copy to bring with me to conventions so people can look it over) that will give a write up on each Wyrm Species, Type, and Breed. Background info, personality traits, typical habitat, etc. as well as making a real sample Wyrm for every current existing Wyrm Type/Breed. These will be photographed, put in the book as samples, and used as Farm breeding stock/display at conventions so folks can actually SEE what a given type or breed looks like. The Hybrids will obviously be unique, depending on the parents, but at least it will let people know what to expect for the starter Types and Breeds.
Actually, if people had any interest maybe it would be fun to have handlers submit snazzy pics of their wyrms to be considered for the "example" photo in the book? It would have to be a good, clear, well lit photo, showing all the important Wyrm traits. (like if it's a plumed gem hunter for example, something that shows the plume, horns, and gem on its forehead) Higher consideration would be given to those who take the pics in the wyrms "natural environment" ( IE outdoors in a neat, nature-y setting )
What do you all think? Would that be something anyone is interested in? I'd just it your handler info and the wyrms name under the pic in the book, crediting you as the photographer and owner. And yes, submitting already taken photos for consideration would be allowed. It wouldn't be a contest, per say, by you'd earn bragging rights since your Wyrm would be the example pic in The Compendium.
