I'm sorry if this seems a bit "anti-newbie", but I think the only people who would want to believe that dates don't matter are the people who don't have a lot of trading fodder. Or maybe it's the other way around, where the people who have a lot of older pets for trade don't want to believe that '11 rare = '08 rare.

I don't know about any of you; but I'm not trading an older pet for one newer pet with the same rarity. Nope, no sir. Not happening.
Dates still matter to me, even if they don't matter when considering the rarity.

I think dates don't matter is a bit of an overstep. I think they just matter less. Now a January 2012 can be traded for a July 2012. Before it was seen as totally unfair.

I don't know how I feel about the new system......... On one hand, it makes rarites easier to understand. On the other hand, it makes trading a nightmare because everyone is used to how everything used to work.

I've been trying to get my hands on one of either of the two new lions, i offered someone a 2008 very rare, i feel like i've been slightly robbed, i get a canceled trade back with a link to a trade where someone has offered about ten very rare/rares from 2011-2008.

One question:

What kind of drain cleaner is everyone on this site drinking and where can i get a few bottles?
