Kinns Name: Solar Flare
Favorite Food: Snickerdoodle Cookies!
Why You like this Kinn: I love three things about this little girl. One: I think the one little hoop earring on her left ear adds just that much more personality to her! It shows that she isn't afraid to be different, and enjoys showing that she's not just another outcome from the mold. Second: I like that there aren't a TON of different shades of yellow, and that the artist focused more on the design than the shades and colors. Back to the basics for the win! And third: This line art is just... stunning. I adore the species, and I love the colors red, blue, gold, and black. This little girl incorporates what I love, in one little package of cute!
Art/ Short story (Optional): Solar Flare was often called Flare by her friends. Not because it was her name, but because it was ironic how true it was. She was Flare. She had flare. And this is the story of how she got that name.
It all started on the last day of summer. She was spending those official hours in the water with her friends. Solar Flare wasn't much of a swimmer, she just loved her friends. So she usually followed her companions' leads, going along with what they wanted to do. She always had her personality, just, she kept it locked inside. She wasn't much in the way of outspoken. Anyway, when Solar and her group had been at the river for a while, Solar noticed a younger kinn in the water also, floating on a curved piece of wood. Solar felt her heart beat faster as the little child started drifting closer and closer to the currents in the middle of the river! The poor kid would get swept away! Solar Flare called to her friends, but they couldn't hear her. She'd have to go rescue the kinn on her own. So she took a deep breath and dove into the water.
The water was freezing, but she didn't care. She paddled over to the young kinn, and started pushing against the current, urging the wood back to the shore, where the kinn's father darted up and dove into the water, helping Solar with the weight.
"What's your name?" he asked when Solar Flare had finished.
"Solar Flare-"
"Well, you certainly do have flare to get up and rescue someone in trouble who you didn't even know! I could've sworn I told him to wait on the shore while I got the food. Thank you Solar."
Solar Flare felt special from then on. And on the first day of Autumn, she showed up at her friends' seasons party with a new earring. When they asked, she told them she had flare. And from then on, she was known as Flare.
