Family Matters | Mafia RP | Semi Literate | 3 spots open

This city was always full of some of the most notable crime groups in the country, and your family is determined to leave your mark on history. For generations, one of the oldest mafia gangs -- referred to only as the notorious and infamous "Fa • mi • ly", made up of men and women, young and old -- has made the city into their efficient and irrefutable plaything. Illegal trafficking, smuggling, corruption, money laundering -- you name it, they've done it. Ten times over. Some of the best and successful businessmen are part of the Family themselves, and some of the most powerful judges and authorities were placed in their positions of power by the Family. No one dares put up a fight. What good would that do? They'd be outmatched, outwitted; the Family is rich, powerful, and of many. They're so powerful, in fact, that they no longer keep their faces hidden to the world. Oh, it's not as if they're parading through the streets declaring that they're part of the mafia. But they're not making much effort to hide the fact, either. Who's going to stop them?

The new kids in town would beg to differ. It seemed like they just popped out of the ground. One minute the Family was going to swipe some couple million in cash from the Federal Bank and then --

Someone got to it before they did. Even the Family doesn't know who this new mafia group is, but one thing's for sure: they're disorganized, in disarray, and all too eager to challenge the age old Family. Unlike the Family, members of this new group are younger, ranging from about their late teens to their mid twenties. Their gang name is undisclosed (assuming they've gotten themselves together enough to agree on a name) and they have the advantage of animosity. No one knows the members. But unlike the Family, they're small and without as much manpower. The Family refers to them as the "Mc • Nug • gets" as condescendingly as possible, although the media has taken to calling them the "Kids".

Still, the threat can't be ignored, as the Kids are ambitious and slowly gaining more and more attention. If the Family wants to keep its territory, power, and reputation, they'd better squelch this little vigilante group -- fast.

To make matters worse, two in • ves • ti • ga • tors -- a rookie from out of town and a veteran who really couldn't care less -- have been assigned to tracking down and busting the Kids, which means figuring out their connection with the Family. Neither gang needs this right now, but hopefully the veteran investigator will be able to keep the heat off them for a while. Most older officers and authorities, after all, believe trying to bust the mafia is basically a lost cause. A waste of time. This veteran won't be eager to miss their television for these guys. But the rookie is fresh out of school and ready to take down some bad guys ... and rather over-zealous, if one could be so bold.

An unspecified time before the current date, the face of the Earth changed and modern civilization was seemingly destroyed. It is unknown precisely what caused the "end of the world", but major landmasses changed shape as the sea level rose to unknown heights around the planet. Some time after the end of the world as we knew it, a nation was established in North America that would soon come to be known as Panem. It is unknown precisely when Panem was established and how long it has existed, though it is certain that Panem has been around for more than seventy-five years, and it's entirely possible for it to be at least a century or two old.

Panem eventually grew large enough that it was segmented into thirteen separate districts, each responsible for producing goods of a particular industry to serve the growing needs of the nation, and all operating under the auspices of Panem's oppressive Capitol. Its exact method of expansion is unknown; it is possible that some of the separate districts may have even once been smaller, separate nations that were eventually annexed by Panem.

The various districts of Panem rebelled against the Capitol, primarily due to the oppressive fashion in which the Capitol government ruled over the districts. It is unknown how long the rebellion lasted or the exact number of casualties on either side (although the Capitol claims that for every dead Capitol citizen, two rebels died), but by the end of the conflict, the Capitol had quelled the rebellion, defeating twelve of the districts and obliterating the thirteenth entirely.

In the wake of the rebellion, the Capitol established the Hunger Games, an annual event in which twenty-four children between the ages of twelve and eighteen, one boy and one girl from each district, are chosen from a lottery and entered into a gladitorial competition where they must fight each other to the death until only one remains standing.

The event served two purposes. The first was to demonstrate the overwhelming power the Capitol had over the districts by taking their children by force and forcing them to slay each other in a no-rules competition. It was proof that the Capitol's control over its people was so inexorable and unstoppable that they could do something so sadistic as to force the children of their conquered foes to slay each other in a battle royale. The second purpose was purely for entertainment. The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in the same vein as a reality show, its entrants practically considered celebrities and the events themselves dramatized and glorified.

It was only a few years ago that you held your moms hand watching the kids and teens fight for there lives in the blood bath of hell.As you watched you knew only one survived through out the whole thing...As people died you watched the people around you drop to the ground sobbing.But you know when you turn 12 or more you will be entered and will win the hunger games for not only your family but your district.

You have been entered in to the 99th hunger games...You are either new or have been entered before and have not been chosen...But you are prepared...and know what you would do to survive the blood bath which can only take a few seconds to die.You know the game makers watch your every move and the tributes watch from every tree and bush waiting for the moment to attack you.The stakes are high and the careers are talented as ever...but are you a diamond in the rough and will win the annual hunger games? but the question is will you survive?

"She has been born!" A voice yowls over the storm. Sharp winds and hard rain drops cut right through the cats pelts as they all huddle around the nursery den waiting for the kit of prophecy to be born. Many moons ago the medicine cat foretold that a kit would be born of fire, water, wind, and earth. It was said that this kit would clear away the destruction of the clan and lead them to a new life. Though ever since the prochecy the clan had been plagued. First there was the loss of prey, elders, kits, and queens all dying of starvation. Then there was the sickness, the sickness that had killed the deputy, the deputy whom still had not been renamed. Then lightening strikes a tree, igniting a fire at the base, and causing the tree to fall. It falls across the great rock and the nursery den. The leader is killed, among a few outside the nursery den, and the mother of the kit whom was just born. Yowls of disbelief, terror, and sorrow fill the camp as cats scramble to get out of the camp, the newly born kit still mewing. A young she-cat with kind eyes picks up the kit and murmurs "It will be okay". The young she-cat darts away with the kit following the most expirienced and honored warriors to know where to go. It is now many moons later and the kit is an elder, with four grandchildren, each with the name of flameflicker [male], oceanwave [female], breezetail [female], and tallweed [male]. The mothers and fathers of the kits unknowing of the prophecy. Will the prophecy finally be fulfilled as predicted?

Plot: You are d i f f e r e n t. You always knew you weren't normal. Your family wasn't normal. One day you realize you have powers not like your sense of smell is sharper then other humans or your hearing is better. None of those even compare to your powers. A few days later your parents say that the family is moving to Japan. Why? You don't want to leave your friends behind but your parents say it's for the best. You don't understand. Is it because of your unnatural abilities? You don't know all you know is your moving to Japan.

The year is 2167 ; at least, that's what they tell us.

Wars have completely ravaged all corners of the world, and entire countries are left crippled. But, in an effort to evade downfall, three countries, Canada, Mexico, and the United States have grouped together to create not a new country, but a new society altogether. The name of this new society is "The Esoteric Union", but instead of choking down that mouthful, people simply call it "Esoteria". Nobody was allowed in, nobody was allowed out. The Union completetly cut itself off from the rest of the world, cowering in their new haven. It was divided into 4 sectors, The Northern Sector, the Southern Sector, the Eastern Sector, and the Western Sector. Soon enough the Sectors had little spats about things they disagreed on, which was defeating the whole purpose of why they created the entire union in the first place, so the Esoteric Union government { it overrules the sector governments } decided to step in. They created more defined boundaries between each sector, with up to 150 miles of empty land between each border, and let each sector have their own laws to suit themselves so they wouldn't go into the other sectors and light people up with grenades just because they didn't get along. But, the most important thing that happened during this "counselling" as they call the event, is that communication between the four Sectors were cut off entirely.



Of course, some sectors thought they had unfinished business with other sectors, so they would send highly trained men and women secretly out of their own Sectors to go take care of said "business". After a month or so of these missions, the EU government found out what was going on behind their backs, and kept their eyes peeled on the hundreds of miles of open land between each sector, ready to exterminate anyone who passed through with vile and peaceful intentions alike without a second thought. So, 10-20 years passed with a few scattered attempts between the Sectors of raiding or communicating with a different Sector. Then, the Western Sector had a breakthrough. One of their scientists created a miracle substance that would take random genes from a subject and mutate them wildly, usually giving the subject some sort of ability, which can vary from super-strength to telekinesis. The only problem is, the process usually kills the subject unless the subject has new, mint condition cells ; so, in essence, a small child or baby. The sector governments would raise these children as "super-soldiers" of sorts, and used them to effectively go between the sectors, whether it was for foul-play or for sending messages. Now of course, the EU government was very upset with their disobedient Sectors, and decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. They designed their own super soldiers using a similar technique as the Sectors to go into open combat with the Sector's super soldiers, finally giving the 4 sectors a common enemy to rebel against, which was apparently all they needed to create a thriving society. But of course, by the time the EU government discovered this, it was already too late.
