Pale-eye narrowed her eyes as she stalked into the apprentices' den. "Okay, you two. Time to wake up. We're battle training today, whether Larksong is up for it or not. Falconpaw, follow me." The she-cat turned and stalked out of the den and into the sunshine.

Falconpaw growled, but not really at Pale-Eye, just growling in general grumpiness. He stood up and stretched, jumping when he felt Rockpaw's tongue smoothing down the fluffed up fur on his shoulder. He pushed the smaller cat down and muttered something about how annoying his brother was. "I don't care what my fur looks like, it's gonna get all dirty in battle training anyways!" He left Rockpaw to pick himself up off the ground as he followed his mentor in the annoying morning sunlight.

Quickly woke, and looked at a kit. "Ghostkit, what are you doing here?" he giggled.

"Sunbathing" the albino tom mewed taking a long time to open his reddish colored eyes and look at the apprentice, "what about you Moonpaw?" he asked on his low tuned voice as he gave his right forepaw a lick and an it over his ears for a moment.

Pale-eye's gaze softened. "Here, let me help," she mewed softly. She gave him a thorough washing, making sure that the fur on his face wasn't sticking out in patches and that the tiny tufts on his ears were down. She made sure that the clumps of his pelt that had odd tangles and kinks to them were worked out of his hair and when she was done, she gave him a lick on the top of his head. "Ready now?"

Wildflower snored contentedly. The mottled she-cat was exhausted and curled her tail tightly around her nose, wishing the bad dreams would go away. But she knew they wouldn't, no matter how much lavender and poppy seeds she ate.

[ Actually, perhaps Wildflower and Nightsky could adopt her. ]

Falconpaw growled quietly as he was being washed, but didn't protest like a kit. Instead he waited until his mentor had finished, and then nodded. With gritted teeth, he muttered almost inaudibly, "You're not my mother." The tabby made sure not to say it loud enough for Pale-Eye to hear, because he respected her like a leader and knew that she could snap back just as quickly as he could. Plus, she was usually always right, so there was no point in arguing with her. "Let's go."

Pale-eye's eyes narrowed. "Excuse me?" she asked, icily calm. Falconpaw should know better.

The apprentice stared up at her with wild jade eyes for a moment, before he stared guiltily at the ground. "Er, nothing important, Pale-Eye." Falconpaw scuffed the dirt with a paw and looked back up at his mentor nervously, worried that she would claw one of his eyes out. "I'm sorry."

Pale-eye nodded. "That's what I thought. Hunting, and then battle training for today," she mewed in her low, gravelly voice before turning around and beginning to pad gracefully out of camp.
