Marcel shrugged and took the mug from Rhyu's table. Fair enough, he supposed. People who hung out in taverns probably weren't the nicest sorts anyway, and people who hung out in taverns in large towns like this one were probably even less nice. He strode up to the counter, mug in hand, and presented it to the barmaid, a pretty young girl with blond curls and bright gray eyes.
"What'll it be?" she asked him, not the least intimidated by his enormous frame.
"I'm not here for a drink," Marc said.
The barmaid raised an eyebrow at him and stared suspiciously.
"I'm here to help. Would you offer a piece or two to a kind stranger willing to wash these mugs for you?"
"Don't need no help," the barmaid answered, pursing her lovely pink lips and crossing her arms under her breasts.
"Please, Miss," Marc begged, clasping the mug in both hands. "I'm in need of some money and a place to stay. I promise you, I won't disappoint."
Suddenly the barmaid's eyes lit up. "What are you willing to do for money?" she asked.
Marc's mouth fell open. "What? Wait... hold on, I said I wouldn't disappoint, but I didn't mean--"
"See that man over there?" The barmaid asked, nodding in Rhyu's direction.
Marc nodded. "What about him?"
"He's been here for hours," the girl complained. "I'll let you wash the dishes here if you can get him out. He's taking up a table that we could be using to serve more customers."
Marc sighed, resigned. "Fine." What had he gotten himself into? You didn't just go into taverns pestering other people, even if the barmaid told you to. What if she was tricking him? A confrontation like this could get Marcel into serious trouble, but even not-so-serious trouble was bad enough. What a pain this was turning out to be.
He trudged back to the table where Rhyu was sitting and stood there for a moment a few feet away, trying to think of an appropriate way to tell someone to get out of a tavern without seeming rude. It looked just about impossible.

Rhyu watched the man leave with the mug, viewing the conversation with indifference, almost bordering amusement. They were too far away for Rhyu to hear what exactly they were saying, but he could pick up the gist of the conversation. Any hint of mirth he had, however, quickly left him as Marc went in the direction of his table. He stifled a sigh, leaning back in his chair as the man paused a distance from him, waiting a moment to see if the other would speak.
"Yes?" he finally asked, nearly snapping, once he realized the other would never get around to say anything.

Marc glanced up for a moment, surprised, then his eyes averted and he spoke: "I'm sorry to bother you again, sir, but... you, um. You seem to be obstructing the flow of customers in this tavern." He knew that sounded completely idiotic, but he hoped it would get the point across. He shot a look at the barmaid, who gave him a reassuring smile, glad that she hadn't had to do this job herself. "I will have to ask you to leave."

Rhyu gave a low laugh, though he was genuinely amused this time. The man seemed to be quite a coward.
"Is that so?" He asked, quite obviously a rhetorical question. "Well then. And if I choose not to leave?" In reality, he was planning to leave in any case, but was reckless, curious to see what the mans' reaction would be, and ever-so-slightly drunk.

Marcel rolled his eyes. "If you choose not to leave, I'll have to make you." How very cliche. Was this what Marc was becoming to the world outside of his fishing village? A bouncer? He certainly had the look for it, and the strength. Marc hated dealing with people. He hated being in loud, smelly places like this, but he didn't know how else to earn money. If being a bouncer was the best way to do it, then he supposed he would.

Rhyu continued to inspect him for a moment, before nodding slightly. "That's what I thought."
He stood, pausing slightly before walking, slightly awkward, around the man and across the room. As he went through the door he pulled his hood back over his head against the quickly cooling air, giving a sigh of relief. Though he far prefferred the forests to the city, it was far better than being back in there. Leaning against the outer wall of the building, his thoughts wandered to the castle.

(im so sorry i havent started, i was really busy)
Annax peered in the dusty window of the tavern. The lights from inside reflecting on her eyes. She scratched her neck. Something seems odd she thought. Gazing back into the distance, she wondered if something was going to happen. She had had these feelings before...feelings that something was changing. Something BIG. But what was it? The neighborhood seemed the same, she gazed around. The villagers were all busy and doing their daily work. No one else seemed to notice. She leaned against the tavern door, knowing she wouldn't enter, she had no intention of doing any of the sort. As she gazed into the darkening sky, she dozed off beside the door.

The hours passed quickly for Marcel, who was happy with his work and happy to get payment. After washing countless glasses and setting them all aside for the barmaid, his fingers were wrinkled and waterlogged, but he was rewarded with twenty silver pieces, enough for a good couple of nights at a mediocre inn.
The sky was a dark blue by the time he finally made his way to the door. He opened it proudly, and was started by what appeared to be a young girl sleeping beside it. He stared upward. The lanterns above the streets were turning on. Who knew what sort of folks would be prowling about at this time of night? Certainly couldn't be the kind that would mean no harm to a lone girl.
"Miss," Marc said, gently nudging her shoulder with his large hand.

((Nice job, guys. :3 How about some motivation? For example, Xanna, why didn't Annax go into the bar?
Azora, why is that Rhyu prefers the forest?
Tris, why would Marc be worried about people hurting Annax? Is the city dangerous?
Just some things to get you guys thinking. ^^))
