Frozen is not actually healthier for them. It's safer. Something that has been in the freezer for months on end has less nutritional value that has been recently killed. This is why you should buy small numbers of frozen prey more often, so your snake does not have to eat something that's badly freezerburnt.

The vet told me otherwise. But this is not a snake forum/thread.

Tinker reminds me of my first rat, Zeus. He had a bit more black on him though.
Thank you! I fell in love with Phantom because of her markings! I had never seen a rat with a mask like that.

Syria had her babies!
Twelve, healthy babies. All have nice milkbands. ^_^
By what I can see, almost all have red eyes except for, say, 4-6 of the TWELVE she had! I am so proud of her! She's being such a good mother it's unbelievable. ;-; <3
Since Syria has no problem with me handling the babies, I am going to let her out to play with Sally tomorrow, and check each baby over carefully. I know one thing, though.. I have homes for six maybe seven of them. ^_^
Someone had the nerve to ask me to buy a male and female from my litter so they could breed them

I about snapped on them hardcore. I'm definitely not letting them buy from me.
Hell, I'm not even letting people BUY-buy from me, I'm just giving them away to people I KNOW will take care of them and have experience/pet rats at the moment.

I thought you weren't supposed to touch newborn rats because the mother could eat them.
I had a friend that did this with her bunnies, and the mother killed them- probably because they did not smell like rabbit babies anymore. I have heard of it in hamsters too.
Anyway, congrats on the babies :3

Usually the mother will eat the babies, IF they are uncomfortable/stressed. Syria has no problem with any of us, even my father, handling the litter. Matter o' fact, she groomed my hand/arm the entire time I looked over the litter and fell asleep on my shoulder when I was near done.
All babies have nice milk bands, I'm so proud words can not explain. ^_^
Two of these babies are going to my friend - whom breeds her rats specificly for their temperm (and a few other things, she has mainly rexes and dumbos which I ADORE). There are no rat rescues in our area, so she provides everyone with reliable, healthy rats and I am beyond happy she'll not only give good homes to my babies, but possibly add on to our family with grandbabies!
She has around sixty or so rats, most of which I call rescues as they're strictly pets, and very few she has as breeders. I might take a rex mismark off her hands, he's super laid back, sweet, carries dumbo and is overall a good boy. When she comes to get her pups, shes going to bring him along to see if Oliver likes him and if so, he's mine. <3
