Instead of deciding between Sovereign and Harbinger for names of my lovely Reaper Runes, I've instead been brainstorming ideas for my Rune Bearer character. Someone's got to be in charge of these runes (well, let's face it, the Reaper Rune is the one that's actually going to be in charge here). So I've got a question... Is there a ... canon? history to Eldamore? I was peeking into The Runes of Eldamore RP and was reading up on the first post, but no idea if it's just the theme that's only there or for most of this fandom? ^^

Already putting together an idea that my character is more technologically advanced, steampunk... never been into steampunk, but definitely am poking an artist or two that's open for commissions to see who is interested in designing this woman. Someone that's already got a Portal Rune and has attracted the attention of the Reaper Rune. Not the nicest of people out there, I'm guessing. XD

Any quick notes on basics of how Eldamore runs, or what I should consider to make a character fit into this world, would appreciate. Or even if you want to vote on one name or the other for Reaper Rune. I'll take suggestions.

The world of Eldemore is best explained in the first post to the RP. It is indeed the theme we have with our Runes and was created by much imagination and inspiration! The world is large and vast and I try to make up places to incorporate our rune dragons. Steampunk is just the best style/word I could think of for that age and many of the residents are not wealthy so they usually wear a steampunk style while the time period is based somewhere in the Victorian era. I will try my best to give an explanation but most of this is just what I have made up so far. ^^

Rune Bearers~ Are people who have Runes that they have made a soul connection with or bond. Runes do not speak, but they are indeed intelligent and mostly converse through the mind or body language. Rune Bearers are special individuals who open their souls to touch with their dragons. This connection is very personal to both dragon and human and once it is done, to separate the two would cause great trauma or even death to either the Rune or Bearer.

Rune Dragons~ Dragons of every size and property inhabit the land of Eldemore. These creatures are numerous and abundant in magic since each Rune carries a little bit of magical properties in their runes upon their wings. This is what makes these creatures so special and are used in the daily lives of all who inhabit these lands.

Eldemore~ A planet much like Earth yet filled with creatures known as Runes that are a part of both the lives of humans and the world itself. Eldemore is an old land filled with magic and legends, the people and runes who inhabit this place work together as one and neither can live without the other.

Ancients~ The most sought after and the rarest of all runes. These dragons are massive in size and often embody great power. There is no real knowledge on how they came to be and most are born from simply being. These creatures have an insatiable desire to claim a summoner of their own and will wait centuries till the person is born before they call them. An Ancient can not truly use it's power to their full extent without channeling it through a human summoner. Often this connection is created through ancient pacts made by both Dragon and Human. However their are two types of pacts that can be made and not all Ancients have good intentions. Blessed Pacts are made without sacrifice and usually hold good will towards the summoner. The Ancients who use these require the summoner to sacrifice nothing in return for the bond but in doing so their power is not as fully realized as with a Cursed Pact nor will the summoner gain immortality. Cursed Pacts, though these are the most powerful pacts to be made, they force the summoner to sacrifice something precious in return. Often times it is the mortality of the human they take, as well as the human themselves. Ancients who use cursed pacts are the ones to summon the humans, and will consider the human to be more of a prized status rather than a dear friend, like the blessed pacts.

Cursed pacts hold the most power but in return the summoner losses everything. Blessed pacts hold friendship but the summoner often dies from natural causes or age, thus forcing Ancients who use these pacts to continuously search for another summoner. Ancients who use the cursed pacts feel that a summoner rightly belongs to them and sees no need in allowing the human to perish over time. However, humans are naturally mortal creatures and to be forced to live forever is indeed a curse. The summoner is never forced into these pacts and an Ancient can never force them either. The person decides weather they wish to give up everything, or sacrifice little. It is morals which dictate the Ancients and many of them often do not like those who use the opposite pact.

Ok so maybe that was a lot of information but at least that gives you some insight on some of the things in Eldemore and the land of Rune Dragons. I really need a separate thread to place all this information in instead of letting it sit inside my head...-___-

Do we need to have a character for a rune bearer? I know that I didn't actually grow up in a remote valley village... But I just have a fictional me that does all the fun stuff with Aludra, and no official rune bearer. Does that work?

Well, that is a crazy amount of info I didn't expect to get, but it definitely has helped give me more info on the world!
I also seem to always have a bad habit of replaced e's with a's and a's with e's... Anyway, thank you Thorn.

You have a lot of imagination put into this place-- would make an excellent story/book someday, or other website, if you ever do an off-site RP group. About the Ancients... it really intrigues me, the difference between a Cursed Pact and a Blessed Pact. Do the Ancient's pages that have been released/stories mention what kind of pact it is? Are they always Blessed or some Cursed? Curious about that, what with the Ancient's being released soon. XD

It gives me more of an idea of what character I'd make... It's not that I don't like steampunk, I love that idea. A combination of technology and Victorian. It has its own theme/era all together. Just seeing what my character would do and where she'd fit in. To attract a Reaper Rune... I wouldn't know where to begin where her personality lies, but I doubt she's the nicest person around.

@soulBridge, I bet you're awesome at character design. I dunno about steampunk, it always looks so complicated to me XD I sent a message to an ME fan that writes comics on DA, who also recently opened her commissions. Dunno if she designs, who knows. lol

I totally missed your end of the picture. I was cooking and then eating! Love how it came out, the main focus is the rune flying in the picture~

And I don't think so Bast. I just figured I would make a character, as I identify as myself on CS through this name, and a persona that's a dragon. XD Need a more established character to write stories with.

No, of course not. It is not required of you to have a set character as your Rune Bearer. This is just to have fun in thinking so and fictional characters are not set in stone. It is mainly just for RP's or stories if you wish. ^_^

If you want to make your actual Rune Bearer self then you are more than welcome to but it is certainly not required to partake in any Rune Dragon events other than RP's.

It is said with each Ancient which pact is cursed and which is blessed. Honestly you can just sort of tell by how the Ancient acts weather it offers blessed or cursed. The next two Ancients coming up will have these as well, there will be a Cursed Pact and Blessed pact released this time. All in all there has only ever been two cursed pacts made and the next shall be the third. I try to make them more rare since it is not often that Ancients use these sorts of pacts. Those who do are The Ancient of Time and the Ancient of Chaos but those two are also connected and are the only brothers as well. There is a lot of story that can go into all this but the we always try to make each Ancient unique and awesome! Although, I think there will be too many who will not wish to create a pact with the Ancient I'm doing. He is indeed very evil and so must the Rune Bearer be as well to share in such horrific beliefs as the Ancient does.

Yes, I think many Rune Bearers were created when we did the RP. Mine is Thorn with her Ancient Numair...Numair is one of the cursed pacts though but he is more arrogant rather than evil, unlike his brother I mean! XD
