Have you ever had a rat?: I have six! I had a seventh, but she escaped.

My current six ratty girls are Emilie, Florence, Lorelei, London, Valdosta, and Amelia. This page on my tumblr has photos and short descriptions of each of them. c:

At the time, she was in a bird cage by herself because she was too small for the rat cage, and my mother put the cage in the garage one day, while the doors were open. I didn't know that Katelyn could push the door open, so she did, and she got outside.

Okay.. I was bad.. ;-;

I went to buy a new top for my newest rat cage, and, of course I had the urge to look through the rats as always.

Right at the left back corner of the cage, a black berkshire DUMBO male.

I about died.

I snapped him up, and instantly he started snuggling and licking on my hands. ;-; I fell in love.

Sally was supposed to be my last buy, but as soon as my parents saw him even they couldn't resist. He's the cutest little thing ever.. and after five years of looking for a dumbo, I am beyond happy. ^_^

I decided to name him Ames. He's so sweet, and so tiny! It looks like his front left paw is swollen, and he's dehydrated.. but I can fix that up no problem. His droppings are also icky/gooey.. again.. medicine and he'll be good as new, I hope.

I cannot believe my luck. Never have I come across a dumbo in this part of Alabama. ;-; I never thought I'd get my hands on one. Ever. and now I have one.

I put him in with Oliver and Bentley before introducing to see what they'd do, and I expected some dominance but instead they both happily pounced on him and legit started grooming him to no end. I'm going to keep him with the two, and keep a super close eye on them. I think it's because both Bentley and Ames are young compared to Oliver so he isn't feeling threatened. Bentley couldn't be happier with another new friend ^_^ it's just precious.

{Aweh, I hope Ames gets better. Lucky you, I love dumbos. I wish I had one, but I have yet to find one... and anyway, I'm good with my two right now. They're a big enough handful as it is x3}

yeah it's normal, but some rats lick more than others. my little rattie licks my hands a lot too. =)

d'waaa....my rattie, Remus (he's a hooded rat), was preening his fur and crawling around the table while i was doing my summer Homework, and then accidently fell off onto a chai. the look on his little face! i just cracked up. rats do funny things, lol.
