Haha, yeah, I'll probably have to go with the military uniform, since the his red robes would probably not fall under my school's dress code. Actually, I'm not sure, but.... I've heard thrift stores and the such can have good places to find cheap cosplaying needs. XD

I'm going to work on my newest cosplay tomorrow, a friend and I are doing orange jumpsuit Tsuna and Gokudera from hitman reborn. Also on the side we are working on another secret cosplay and Namine and Zexion from KH. (They were going to be our first and the ones were wearing to a con but my zexion cloak cost a lot online and there is no way I can sew it)

If you cosplay somebody from an anime/manga WEAR A WIG! No matter what very few people can cosplay using their real hair and wigs make or break a cosplay. No matter how wicked your cosplay is if your hair isn't the whole cosplay just doesn't seem good. What so cosplayers don't get is that hair gel is your best friend.

Thanks everyone ;)
I'm going to being attending Supanova; it's the cosplaying event of the year ^_^ And I think I might try my hand at cosplaying, although I'm going to try and get some of my friends to join in so I don't feel so embarrassed. It's a pity that all my favourite characters have difficult outfits and hair styles; I don't have a large supply of cash, and I can't afford to commission someone to make props/wigs/stuff for me xD

Yeah, I'd definitely do it with a friend. >.< I wouldn't even think about trying it at school unless I my friend was doing it...

Cosplay is aways better with a friend I would have never started if it wasn't for my cosplay group.

Thrift stores are like.. god. You know how they say one man's garbage is another man's treasure? ..Yah.

What kind of dress code do you have at your school? You can always say that the red robes is.. a dress. 8D;

@mello; Did jumpsuit!Tsuna and this one little kid said, "Look mommy! A bad man!" ;AAAA;

TIPS:
If you can't sew, you can try to modify clothing you find at a thrift store to suit your needs. I know this one thrift store has a bunch of trench coats you can use to make Organization XIII coats. Just buy one your size and bring it in at the waist using safety pins. For a more secure fit, try sewing it a little with a machine. It isn't all that hard: gather what you want to sew together under the pedal (right side touching right side!), put the pedal down, and press the foot pedal to go! It sews for you! Remember to backstitch in the beginning and the end so your thread doesn't unravel. There's a button to press if your want to backstitch. It's different for every machine but it should be in the instruction booklet.

Sure, the coat won't be EXACT but but, at least it's similar! xD; Generally, if the clothing looks professionally made, no one's gonna judge that harshly because you'll look good.

For props, there's always cardboard. It's not really a skill to make props. More of a trial and error. But it's always helpful to have a life-size reference.

Wigs.. Wigs are a hassle I'd rather not get into.

~Kipling
Our dress code isn't bad(public school. ;)), so it's not strict or anything, but I don't want to risk it. D; Cosplaying gone wrong....
But dresses are fine...I believe. XP

A thrift store is like a second-hand store, where people donate already used clothing in relatively good condition and you can buy for good prices. It's like Community Foodshare, but for clothing. XD Well, second-hand shops can have a variety of things, but....

I'm guessing it is the same thing as a Charity shop then ;)

@fiery; Yes! Like that.

You can find many things at thrifts stores including furniture, dolls, wedding dresses, baby clothes, televisions, books, tableware, etc.

@asian; Well, the robe will cover your body so I don't think it's anything bad..

And there's always a change of clothes~
