THE GRAND ARCHMAGE agreed with Croner, though he did not voice his opinion right away. He sought out his deepest, darkest memories for something that he had learned over the centuries that might help him in this battle with the sorceress and her rogue knights. He shook his head as he continued to watch Morgan in the seeing stone. He could now see her sister, who had left off groveling on the floor and was now pleading with her, no doubt because she wished for another trip to the surface to kidnap mortal men to take down to the third circle and add to her hoard. He shook his head. At this rate, we might never be able to help the other dragons, he thought. He listened to Croner's thoughts as the idea of spreading a rumor that more dragons were abroad. That just might work -- and it might not even have to be a rumor.

"Croner, wait there for a few moments while I get something to show you. Traysian, come with me," he gestured to his son, who had arrived only a moment before to tell him that he had finished helping the stable hands with their chores. He took his son by the arm and led him to a crack in the wall, in which he placed a gold medallion with an engraving of a dragon on it. The wall opened to reveal a tunnel, which he then led his son into, lighting the many torches lined up there. At the end of the tunnel was a room filled with relics from the era of the dragons: jewels, gold, silver, scrolls, parchments, books, journals, and many other things that the seven dragon watches had entrusted him with when they had gone into hiding so many centuries ago. In the center of the room on a waist-high marble pedestal stood a gigantic chest, chained and padlocked with gold. He gestured for his son to pick up one end as he took up the other, and they carried the chest out of the tunnel in this fashion.

When they were out of the tunnel, he again closed the wall and placed the chest in Croner's line of vision. He pulled a winged skeleton key out of his robe's pocket and fit it in the padlock, twisting it three times and then pushing it in to unlock the padlock. He removed the chains from it and opened it to reveal fourteen dragon eggs -- two of each species, one male and one female per species. He turned to Croner and explained. "Before the dragons went into hiding, each species entrusted me with one male and one female of their kind, so that if they were to go extinct, the dragon race would still continue. These hatchlings have been frozen in their growth for well over five centuries, and they have a spell on them which will not allow them to hatch unless I give them my permission to. I had been planning to wait until all of the present dragons had found mates and after the coronation ceremonies, but if you would like, we can hatch them now," he said, watching his old friend as he used his mind to shut off the seeing stone ball.

He waited. Maybe, just maybe, he would be able to save the dragons after all.

ANNA NODDED and bowed back, watching the male elf dragon carefully. Yes, she was pleased that there was at least one other elf dragon in existence, but she didn't trust him yet. He would have to be watched until he could prove himself. As she looked him over, her scales changed color and settled to a hazy gold which contrasted with her exotic eye color perfectly to create an amazing look for her. Her scales glowed softly in the misty wisps of clouds that drifted lower than all of the rest and the mist curled around her wingtips and under her stomach. She smiled and said, "Welcome, Shadow-Flame Tern. I am pleased to see that I am not the last of my race. Would you like to travel with us?"

(So at the moment I don't have time to do a good post, but I am so sorry about not being on without prior warning. Life just got kinda crazy and I didn't have time to get online for a long time. I will post sometime soon, though the earliest will probably be in a few days.)
